ILLINOIS  DRIVER’S EDUCATION

Summary of Illinois Graduated Licensing Law

Illinois has a three stage licensing process for minors.
  1. Permit (at least age 15). We recommend our DriverEdToGo Video- to use during the Permit stage. Shows the parent how to teach collision-free driving habits and provides unique teaching tools (mirrors, checklists, videos, audio instruction series, etc.).
  2. Initial License (ages 16 - 17). Provide verification of driver education course and 25 hours supervised practice.
  3. Regular License (age 17 if has had license at least 6 months).
