MARYLAND DRIVER LICENSE REQUIREMENTS AT-A-GLANCE:
Minimum Age for Learner Permit 15 years, 9 months
Learner Permit Holding Period 9 months
Minimum Amount of Supervised Driving 60 hours, including 10 at night. A qualified supervising driver is a person at least 21 years old who has been licensed for at least three (3) years
Minimum Age for Driver License 16 years, 6 months
Road Test Yes
Unsupervised Driving Rules Provisional license holders under 18 may drive independently between the hours of 5am and 12 midnight. After these hours, you must have a qualified supervising driver with you when you drive
Passenger Rules Provisional license holders under 18 may NOT carry non-family member passengers for the first 151 days after receiving their license (unless accompanied by a qualified supervising driver).
