United Driving School FAQ’s
United Driving School is listed on your website as a driving school which offers behind-the-wheel training courses. How do I know if United Driving School is a certified school in California?
While we include a list of driver training schools on our website for your convenience, we cannot guarantee that every single one of them is currently licensed by the California DMV.  We suggest you contact United Driving School directly or the California DMV to find out if United Driving School is a fully-accredited driver training school.
Could I just have my mother or father give me my behind-the-wheel training instead of paying money to enroll in a professional behind-the-wheel training course?
It depends on which state you live in.  There are some states which allow you to do your behind-the-wheel training with a parent or guardian instead of attending a professional driving school.  However many states require that new drivers take a professionally-taught behind-the-wheel training course.  We recommend that you ask your state's DMV office to find out if your parent or guardian can fill the role as your behind-the-wheel driving instructor.
I have no clue how to drive a manual-shift vehicle. What happens if United Driving School makes me train on a manual-shift vehicle?
Considering the fact you are a brand new driver, you probably don't know much about operating ANY type of vehicle....manual OR automatic!  If you prefer to do your behind-the-wheel training with an automatic-shift vehicle, you may want to call United Driving School and let them know before you sign up to take their driver training course.  That way you'll know for sure whether United Driving School can accommodate you before you pay them any money.
What happens to those of us who live in a remote area? Will United Driving School include instruction on how to drive on dirt roads, mountain roads, and other rugged?
If you live in a rural location, there is a high probability that a local driver training school like United Driving School will either want--or even be required--to tailor their instruction towards driving safely in your particular locale.
Can 14-year-olds get learner's permits to drive in California?
Most states have set the minimum age for applying for a learner's permit at 15 or 15 1/2.  However, some states do allow 14-year-olds to get an instruction permit.  You may want to contact the California DMV or a California-approved driver training school like United Driving School to find out what the minimum age to drive is in California.
Do I have to take both a drivers education classroom course and a driver training course in San Diego California to get my California driver's license?
The laws vary depending on which state you live in, but most states do require that pre-licensed drivers register for a defensive driving classroom course and a driver training course.  You may want to call a driving instruction company like United Driving School and find out if they offer either (or both) of these programs.
Does United Driving School provide a hands-on driver training course like the one that is required by the State of California? I need to register for one in order to obtain my driver license.
United Driving School offers driver training courses which are approved by the California DMV.  You may want to contact United Driving School directly for more information about their courses and how to go about signing up for one.
Do I have to take drivers education to get a California driver's license?
Drivers education requirements vary depending on which state you live in, but you should be aware that most states require new, teen-aged drivers to register for both a driver training course in addition to a safe driving classroom or online course.  You may wish to contact the California DMV to find out exactly what requirements you will need to satisfy in order to obtain your first driver's license.
I live in San Diego California and would like to apply for my first driver's license. Do I need to take a behind-the-wheel training course before I can be licensed?
California law requires that all new drivers enroll in an approved behind-the-wheel training program before receiving their California driver's license.  United Driving School may offer a behind-the-wheel training course that you are looking for.  Please contact United Driving School directly for complete information as to what types of behind-the-wheel training courses they offer.
Can I sign up to take a California behind-the-wheel training course prior to having my California learners permit?
Most states require pre-licensed drivers to hold a instruction permit before being permitted to enroll in a driver training course.  You should contact a driving school like United Driving School and ask for more information.
