Alpha Driving School FAQ’s
Is Alpha Driving School licensed by the Minnesota DMV to offer driver training courses?
Although we include Alpha Driving School in our directory of driving schools for Duluth Minnesota, we cannot make any assurances about whether or not Alpha Driving School is licensed by the Minnesota DMV.  You should contact Alpha Driving School directly and ask them if you are thinking about enrolling in their Duluth Minnesota driver training class.
Will the Minnesota DMV allow my parents to supervise my driving practice instead of requiring me to take a behind-the-wheel training course at a state-approved driving school?
Possibly.  Some states will allow your parents to supervise your driving practice in place of taking a driver training course with a professional driving instructor.  You will need to contact the Minnesota DMV to find out if your driver training may be done by your parents in Minnesota.
What if I don't know how to drive a vehicle with a manual-shift? Does Alpha Driving School have an automatic-shift vehicle they'll let me train with?
Since you're just learning how to drive, you probably don't know how to operate either a manual-shift or an automatic-shift vehicle!  However, if you have a preference as to a stick or an automatic, you probably should call Alpha Driving School to see if they can accommodate your request prior to your signing up to take their driver training course.
Since I live way out in a rural area where driving on dirt roads and bumpy terrain is the norm, will Alpha Driving School be able to teach me how to drive in a non-urban environment? Or do they only prepare you for city-driving?
Since you live in a remote location, odds are that any local driving school in your area such as Alpha Driving School will want you to be able to drive safely on unpaved roads and bumpy terrain.  We recommend that you contact Alpha Driving School directly to find out exactly what they offer.
Can I apply for my Minnesota learner's permit once I turn 14?
Most likely, no.  Most states have set the youngest age to obtain a learner's permit at 15 or 15½.  You may want to contact the Minnesota Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a certified driving instruction school like Alpha Driving School to learn more about the minimum age requirement in Minnesota.
Do you know if the laws in Minnesota require new teen-aged drivers to enroll in a behind-the-wheel training course in addition to a driver ed classroom or online course?
The laws vary from state to state, but many states do require you to successfully complete a behind-the-wheel training course with "hands-on" practice in addition to a driver ed classroom or online course.
Does Alpha Driving School provide a behind-the-wheel training course like the one that is required by the State of Minnesota? I need to complete one in order to obtain my driver license.
Alpha Driving School offers driver training courses which are approved by the Minnesota DMV.  You may want to contact Alpha Driving School directly for more information about their courses and how to go about registering for one.
Do I have to take drivers education to get a Minnesota driver's license?
Drivers education requirements vary depending on which state you live in, but you should be aware that most states require new, teen-aged drivers to sign up to take both a behind-the-wheel training course in addition to a safe driving classroom or online course.  You may wish to contact the Minnesota DMV to find out exactly what requirements you will need to meet in order to obtain your first driver's license.
What does the law in Minnesota say about driver training courses? Do I have to take one to get my driver's license?
Yes, you do.  Minnesota law states that new drivers enroll in an approved driver training course as a prerequisite to getting their first driver's license.
Is it possible to enroll in a Minnesota-certified behind-the-wheel training course before I obtain my Minnesota instruction permit?
It depends on what the specific laws are in Minnesota, however most states require first-time drivers to receive a learners permit before signing up for a driver training course.  We recommend you contact a driving school such as Alpha Driving School to obtain more information.
