A+ Driving School FAQ’s
Are all the driving schools listed on your website fully-certified by the Missouri DMV to offer driver training courses in Missouri?
The driving school directory on our website is for your convenience only, and we cannot absolutely guarantee that every driving school listed is currently certified to offer behind-the-wheel training courses in Missouri.  We suggest you contact the Missouri DMV to make sure a particular driver training school is certified before you enroll in their driver training course.
Is it true that my mom or dad can be my driving instructor when I do my behind-the-wheel training instead of a professional driving school instructor like the ones they have at A+ Driving School?
It depends on what your state's laws are.  You should contact the Missouri DMV or a licensed driver training school like A+ Driving School to find out if Missouri allows driver training with a parent.
I have no clue how to drive a stick-shift vehicle. What happens if A+ Driving School makes me train on a manual-shift vehicle?
Considering the fact you are a brand new driver, you probably don't know much about operating ANY type of vehicle....manual OR automatic!  If you prefer to do your behind-the-wheel training with an automatic-shift vehicle, you may want to call A+ Driving School and let them know before you enroll in their driver training course.  That way you'll know for certain whether A+ Driving School can accommodate you before you pay them any money.
What happens to those of us who live in a non-urban area? Will A+ Driving School include instruction on how to drive on dirt roads, mountain roads, and other rugged?
If you live in a rural location, there is a high probability that a local driver training school like A+ Driving School will either want--or even be required--to tailor their instruction towards driving safely in your particular locale.
After I turn 14, will I be eligible to obtain my instruction permit so I can begin to learn how to drive?
It depends on which state you live in, however most states unfortunately require you to be at least 15 (or sometimes 15 1/2) before you can be issued a instruction permit.  We suggest that you contact a local driver training school such as A+ Driving School or the Missouri DMV office to learn more about the minimum age requirement for driving in Missouri.
Am I required to take a Columbia Missouri classroom or online drivers education course before I can sign up to take a driver training course through A+ Driving School?
This requirement varies by state but most states do mandate pre-licensed drivers to take BOTH a classroom-based driver education course (generally 30 hours in length) AND a behind-the-wheel training course.  You should ask A+ Driving School if they offer one or both programs.
Missouri's DMV has told me that I need to take a driver training course. Do you know if A+ Driving School offers this course or not?
A+ Driving School does offer the behind-the-wheel training course that Missouri requires all new teen-aged drivers to take.  For more information about the courses A+ Driving School offers, we recommend that you contact A+ Driving School directly.
Exactly what type of driver education do I need in Columbia Missouri before I can get my Missouri driver's license?
The prerequisites for getting a driver's licenses vary from state to state, however most states now require teen-agers who are looking to get their first driver's license to enroll in a drivers education classroom course as well as a behind-the-wheel training course.  We suggest that you contact a local driver training company such as A+ Driving School and ask if they offer a Missouri-approved  driver training course which would fulfill Missouri's driver's education requirements.
What does the law in Missouri say about driver training courses? Do I have to take one to get my driver's license?
Yes, you do.  Missouri law states that new drivers successfully complete an approved driver training course as a prerequisite to getting their first driver's license.
Do I need to have my learner's permit before I register for a behind-the-wheel training course like the one that A+ Driving School offers?
You will need to contact A+ Driving School or the Missouri DMV to find out if you are allowed to register with a driving school like A+ Driving School before obtaining your Missouri instruction permit.
