Anchorage Driver Training FAQ’s
Is Anchorage Driver Training certified by the Alaska DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses?
Although we include Anchorage Driver Training in our directory of driving schools for Anchorage Alaska, we cannot make any assurances about whether or not Anchorage Driver Training is licensed by the Alaska DMV.  You should contact Anchorage Driver Training directly and ask them if you are thinking about signing up to take their Anchorage Alaska driver training class.
I've been told that either of my parents can monitor my behind-the-wheel training, so I don't have to attend a Anchorage Alaska driving school like Anchorage Driver Training to fulfill my driver training requirement. Do you know if that's true or not?
You will need to contact the Alaska DMV or a state-approved driving school like Anchorage Driver Training to find out.  Some states do allow parent-taught driving, but many states do not.
Do you know if Anchorage Driver Training will let me take my driver training using an automatic-shift vehicle? I don't know anything about using a manual-shift.
Considering you're a brand new driver, you probably don't know a whole lot about driving ANY type of vehicle, be it a stick OR an automatic!  Nevertheless, if you have a preference, you probably should contact Anchorage Driver Training and see if they can accommodate you before signing up to take their behind-the-wheel training course.
I live in a rural area, that has a lot of dirt roads and bumpy terrain. Will Anchorage Driver Training teach me how to drive in BOTH city AND rural environments?
If you live in a rural area, chances are very good that a local driver training school like Anchorage Driver Training will want you to be trained in driving specific to the local area's terrain.
After I turn 14, will I be eligible to obtain my instruction permit so I can begin to learn how to drive?
It depends on which state you live in, however most states unfortunately require you to be at least 15 (or sometimes 15 1/2) before you can be issued a learner's permit.  We suggest that you contact a local driver training school such as Anchorage Driver Training or the Alaska DMV office to learn more about the minimum age requirement for driving in Alaska.
Do I have to complete a Anchorage Alaska drivers education classroom course or online course before registering for one of Anchorage Driver Training's driver training courses?
Each state has its own laws, but most states will require first-time drivers to take both a behind-the-wheel training course plus either a defensive driving classroom course (which are about 30 hours in length) or an approved online drivers education course.  You may want to ask Anchorage Driver Training if they offer one or both programs.
I am looking to enroll in a Anchorage Alaska drivers education course. Can Anchorage Driver Training assist me with this?
Yes.  defensive driving courses are available in Anchorage Alaska through Anchorage Driver Training.  Please contact Anchorage Driver Training directly with questions regarding their schedule of classes and registration information.
I live in Anchorage Alaska. What requirements must I meet to be able to get my first Alaska driver's license?
It depends on the particular laws of Alaska, but most states require teen-aged first-time license applicants to successfully complete both a safe driving classroom course and a driver training course.  Anchorage Driver Training may offer courses which would meet the behind-the-wheel training requirement, however you will need to contact them directly to find out exactly what types of courses they offer.
Do I have to take a Anchorage Alaska driver training course in order to get a driver's license?
Yes.  All drivers in Alaska must enroll in an approved behind-the-wheel training course in order to receive a driver's license.  Please contact Anchorage Driver Training for information on the types of driver training courses they offer in Anchorage Alaska.
Can I sign up to take a Alaska-approved behind-the-wheel training course even if I don't have my Alaska learners permit yet?
Most likely, no.  Most states have laws that require a pre-licensed driver to have obtained a Alaska learners permit before registering in a Alaska behind-the-wheel training course.  It would be best for you to contact a driving school such as Anchorage Driver Training and ask for more information.
