Mission Driving School FAQ’s
Mission Driving School's address and phone number is listed on your webpage. How can I find out if it is an approved driver training school in California?
Even though we provide a list of driver training schools on our website, we have no way of knowing for sure as to whether or not a particular school is licensed by the California DMV to offer driver training courses.  We strongly suggest that you contact Mission Driving School directly or check with the California DMV to find out for sure if Mission Driving School is a licensed school.
I heard that parents can fill the role of driving supervisor in California, so taking a Los Angeles driving school course like the one Mission Driving School offers is not necessary. Is that true?
You should contact the California DMV or a licensed driving school like Mission Driving School and ask them.  While parent-taught driving instruction is permitted in some states, many states do NOT allow it.
What if I don't know how to drive a manual-shift automobile? Does Mission Driving School have automatic-shift vehicles that I can drive when I do my behind-the-wheel training?
If you're taking a Los Angeles California driver training class, chances are you don't know how to drive ANY vehicle yet-- stick or automatic.  However, if you prefer an automatic vehicle then you should tell Mission Driving School that prior to registering for the course in order to make sure they can accommodate you.
What happens to those of us who live in a non-urban area? Will Mission Driving School include instruction on how to drive on dirt roads, mountain roads, and other rugged?
If you live in a rural location, there is a high probability that a local driver training school like Mission Driving School will either want--or even be required--to tailor their instruction towards driving safely in your particular locale.
Now that I'm 14, will California allow me to get an instruction permit to drive?
Not likely.  Most states require residents to be at least 15 or 15 1/2 years old before applying for a learner's permit.  We recommend that your contact the California DMV office or a California-approved driver training institute such as Mission Driving School to learn more about the minimum driving age requirement in California.
Do I have to complete a Los Angeles California drivers education classroom course or online course before registering for one of Mission Driving School's driver training courses?
Each state has its own laws, but most states will require first-time drivers to take both a driver training course plus either a drivers education classroom course (which are about 30 hours in length) or an approved online defensive driving course.  You may want to ask Mission Driving School if they offer one or both programs.
I am looking to sign up to take a Los Angeles California defensive driving course. Can Mission Driving School assist me with this?
Yes.  defensive driving courses are available in Los Angeles California through Mission Driving School.  Please contact Mission Driving School directly with questions regarding their schedule of classes and registration information.
Do I have to take drivers education to get a California driver's license?
Drivers education requirements vary depending on which state you live in, but you should be aware that most states require new, teen-aged drivers to complete both a driver training course in addition to a safe driving classroom or online course.  You may wish to contact the California DMV to find out exactly what requirements you will need to fulfill in order to obtain your first driver's license.
Is hands-on driver training required in California in order to be licensed to drive a car?
Absolutely.  All new drivers in California must enroll in an approved behind-the-wheel training course before they can be issued a license to independently drive a motor vehicle.
Is it okay for me to enroll in a driver training class in California before I receive my California instruction permit to drive?
Probably not.  Most states require first-time drivers to have their instruction permit before they are allowed to enroll in a behind-the-wheel training program.  You should contact a driving instruction company like Mission Driving School and request more information.
