Yamato Driving School FAQ’s
Is Yamato Driving School licensed by the California DMV to offer driver training courses?
Although we include Yamato Driving School in our directory of driving schools for Los Angeles California, we cannot make any assurances about whether or not Yamato Driving School is licensed by the California DMV.  You should contact Yamato Driving School directly and ask them if you are thinking about enrolling in their Los Angeles California driver training class.
I've been told that either of my parents can supervise my driver training, so I don't have to attend a Los Angeles California driving school like Yamato Driving School to fulfill my driver training requirement. Do you know if that's true or not?
You will need to contact the California DMV or a state-approved driver training school like Yamato Driving School to find out.  Some states do allow parent-taught driving, but many states do not.
What if I don't know how to drive a vehicle with a stick-shift? Does Yamato Driving School have an automatic-shift vehicle they'll allow me train with?
Since you're just learning how to drive, you probably don't know how to operate either a stick-shift or an automatic-shift vehicle!  However, if you have a preference as to a stick or an automatic, you probably should call Yamato Driving School to see if they can accommodate your request prior to your enrolling in their driver training course.
What happens to those of us who live in a non-urban area? Will Yamato Driving School include instruction on how to drive on dirt roads, mountain roads, and other rugged?
If you live in a remote location, there is a high probability that a local driver training school like Yamato Driving School will either want--or even be required--to tailor their instruction towards driving safely in your particular locale.
Can I apply for my California learner's permit once I turn 14?
Most likely, no.  Most states have set the youngest age to obtain a learner's permit at 15 or 15½.  You may want to contact the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a certified driver training school like Yamato Driving School to learn more about the minimum age requirement in California.
I live in Los Angeles California. Does the law say I have to enroll in both a driver ed classroom or online course and a behind-the-wheel training course in order to be fully-licensed here?
Each state has its own laws in regards to licensing procedures.  However, most states do require that new, teen-aged drivers successfully complete both a driver training course plus either a drivers education online course or drivers education classroom course .
California law says that I must enroll in a driver training course in order to get licensed to drive in Los Angeles California. Is this something that Yamato Driving School can help me with?
Yes, Yamato Driving School offers the California-approved hands-on driver training course.  For more information about their classes and instruction schedule, please contact Yamato Driving School directly.
What type of driver ed do I need before California will give me a driver's license?
Each state has its own requirements concerning drivers education, although you should know that most states now mandate all new, young drivers to enroll in a drivers education classroom or online course as well as a driver training course.  Yamato Driving School may be able to help you fulfill the driver training requirement in California.  Please contact either Yamato Driving School or the California DMV for more information.
Is a driver training course a prerequisite in Los Angeles California for me to get a drivers license?
The law in California requires that all drivers complete a driver training course as part of their driver education.  You should contact Yamato Driving School directly to find out about the types of courses they offer.
Is it all right if I sign up with a behind-the-wheel training school like Yamato Driving School prior to my obtaining my learner's permit?
In most states, you are required to have already received your learner's permit before you register for your driver training course like the one offered by Yamato Driving School.  We suggest you contact either Yamato Driving School to find out more information.
