Central Driving School FAQ’s
Are all the driving schools listed on your website fully-accredited by the California DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses in California?
The driving school directory on our website is for your convenience only, and we cannot absolutely guarantee that every driving school listed is currently accredited to offer driving training courses in California.  We suggest you contact the California DMV to make sure a particular driving school is licensed before you enroll in their driver training course.
Is it true that my mom or dad can be my driving instructor when I do my driver training instead of a professional driving school instructor like the ones they have at Central Driving School?
It depends on what your state's laws are.  You should contact the California DMV or a licensed driver training school like Central Driving School to find out if California allows behind-the-wheel training with a parent.
What happens if I don't know how to operate a manual-shift vehicle? Will Central Driving School allow me to do my driver training with an automatic-shift vehicle?
Considering you're a brand new driver, you probably don't know much about driving any type of car--manual-shift or automatic-shift!  However, if you prefer to complete your driver training using an automatic-shift vehicle, you should contact Central Driving School and let them know before you enroll in their driver training course.  That way you will know for certain if they will accommodate you.
Since I live way out in the country where driving on dirt roads and rugged terrain is the norm, will Central Driving School be able to teach me how to drive in a rural environment? Or do they only prepare you for city-driving?
Since you live in a remote location, odds are that any local driving school in your area such as Central Driving School will want you to be able to drive safely on dirt roads and bumpy terrain.  We recommend that you contact Central Driving School directly to find out exactly what they offer.
I just turned 14 years old. Am I eligible to apply for my learner's permit in California?
Probably not.  The minimum age requirement for holding a learners permit in most states is 15 1/2.  You should contact the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driving school such as Central Driving School to find out more information about the minimum age requirement in California.
I live in San Jose California. Does the law say I have to take both a drivers education classroom or online course and a driver training course in order to be fully-licensed here?
Each state has its own laws in regards to licensing procedures.  However, most states do mandate that new, teen-aged drivers successfully complete both a behind-the-wheel training course plus either a drivers education online course or drivers education classroom course .
I'm required to take a driver training course in San Jose California. Do you know if Central Driving School offers driver training classes in San Jose California?
Yes, Central Driving School does offer behind-the-wheel training courses in San Jose California.  For more information about their class schedule and how/when to sign up for one of their defensive driving courses, please contact Central Driving School directly.
What type of driver ed do I need before California will give me a driver's license?
Each state has its own requirements concerning drivers education, although you should know that most states now require all new, young drivers to register for a drivers education classroom or online course as well as a behind-the-wheel training course.  Central Driving School may be able to help you fulfill the driver training requirement in California.  Please contact either Central Driving School or the California DMV for more information.
Is a behind-the-wheel training course a prerequisite in San Jose California for me to get a drivers license?
The law in California requires that all drivers complete a driver training course as part of their driver education.  You should contact Central Driving School directly to find out about the types of courses they offer.
Can I sign up to take a California-approved driver training course even if I don't have my California instruction permit yet?
Most likely, no.  Most states have laws that mandate a pre-licensed driver to have obtained a California learners permit before registering in a California driver training course.  It would be best for you to contact a driving school such as Central Driving School and ask for more information.
