Excel Driving School FAQ’s
Excel Driving School is listed on your website as a driving school which offers driver training courses. How do I know if Excel Driving School is a certified school in California?
While we include a list of driver training schools on our website for your convenience, we cannot guarantee that every single one of them is currently licensed by the California DMV.  We suggest you contact Excel Driving School directly or the California DMV to find out if Excel Driving School is a fully-accredited driving school.
Could I just have my mother or father give me my behind-the-wheel training instead of paying money to take a professional behind-the-wheel training course?
It depends on which state you live in.  There are some states which permit you to do your behind-the-wheel training with a parent or guardian instead of attending a professional driving school.  However many states require that first-time drivers take a professionally-taught behind-the-wheel training course.  We recommend that you ask your state's DMV office to find out if your parent or guardian can fill the role as your behind-the-wheel driving instructor.
What happens if I don't know how to drive a manual-shift vehicle? Will Excel Driving School allow me to do my behind-the-wheel training with an automatic-shift vehicle?
Considering you're a brand new driver, you probably don't know much about driving any type of automobile--manual-shift or automatic-shift!  However, if you prefer to complete your driver training using an automatic-shift vehicle, you should contact Excel Driving School and inform them before you register for their driver training course.  That way you will know for certain if they will accommodate you.
I live out in the middle of nowhere. There are rural and mountain roads everywhere. Will Excel Driving School train me how to drive in BOTH rural AND city areas?
If you live in a rural or mountain community, chances are that a local driving instruction institute like Excel Driving School will include driving lessons specifically tailored to that terrain.
Are 14-year-olds permitted to apply for a instruction permit in California?
Although a few states allow teen-agers to begin practicing how to drive at 14, most states have set the minimum age for which to receive an instruction permit at either 15 or 15½.  You will need to contact the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driving school like Excel Driving School to find out what the minimum age for driving is in California.
I live in San Jose California. Does the law say I have to enroll in both a driver ed classroom or online course and a driver training course in order to be fully-licensed here?
Each state has its own laws in regards to licensing procedures.  However, most states do require that new, teen-aged drivers enroll in both a driver training course plus either a drivers education online course or drivers education classroom course .
California law says that I must enroll in a driver training course in order to get licensed to drive in San Jose California. Is this something that Excel Driving School can help me with?
Yes, Excel Driving School offers the California-approved hands-on driver training course.  For more information about their classes and instruction schedule, please contact Excel Driving School directly.
What do I need to do to obtain a driver's license in San Jose California?
It depends on California's laws, but most states require new, teen-aged drivers to complete a drivers education classroom course as well as a behind-the-wheel training course.  You may want to call Excel Driving School to see if they offer the behind-the-wheel training course that would satisfy the regulations set forth by the California DMV.
Am I obligated to take a San Jose California driver training course?
All drivers in California are required to take a driver training course.  You should contact Excel Driving School to learn more about the courses they offer.
Will California allow me to sign up to take a driver training course before I actually receive my learner's permit?
You will need to contact your state's DMV office to find out.  However, most states require that you receive your learner's permit before you register with a behind-the-wheel training course.
