NEVADA  DRIVER’S EDUCATION

To enroll in a Driver Education course in the state of Nevada, you must be at least 15 years of age.  To apply for an Instruction Permit, you must be at least 15½ years of age.  Exceptions to these requirements will not be made for students who are home-schooled.

Nearly all beginning drivers under 18 must complete a Driver Education course.  The course, with a minimum of 30 hours of instruction, is not a requirement to obtain an instruction permit, but it is a requirement for a driver license.  All schools issue a Certificate of Completion that must be presented to the DMV when you apply for your full license.

Driver education is required if you live in a county that has a population of more than 50,000, in a city or town that has a population of more than 25,000, or in any area where a course is offered in your high school.  If you live in an area that is exempt, an official or administrator from your local high school must sign the Affidavit for Minor to Be Licensed (DLD1) when you apply for your driver license.
