Summit Driving School FAQ’s
Since Summit Driving School is listed on your website, does this mean they've been approved by the Maryland DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses?
The list of driving schools on our webpage is provided as a convenience to our customers only.  We CANNOT guarantee that every single school listed is fully-certified by the Maryland DMV.  You may want to call Summit Driving School directly to find out if they offer a state-certified behind-the-wheel training course.
Will the Maryland DMV allow my parents to supervise my driving practice instead of requiring me to take a behind-the-wheel training course at a state-approved driving school?
Possibly.  Some states will allow your parents to supervise your driving practice as a substitute to taking a driver training course with a professional driving instructor.  You will need to contact the Maryland DMV to find out if your behind-the-wheel driving may be done by your parents in Maryland.
What happens if I don't know how to drive a manual-shift vehicle? Will Summit Driving School allow me to do my driver training with an automatic-shift vehicle?
Considering you're a brand new driver, you probably don't know much about operating any type of vehicle--manual-shift or automatic-shift!  However, if you prefer to complete your behind-the-wheel training using an automatic-shift vehicle, you should contact Summit Driving School and let them know before you register for their driver training course.  That way you will know for certain if they will accommodate you.
I live out in the middle of nowhere. There are rural and mountain roads everywhere. Will Summit Driving School teach me how to drive in BOTH rural AND city areas?
If you live in a rural or mountain community, chances are that a local driving school like Summit Driving School will include behind-the-wheel driver training specifically tailored to that terrain.
Now that I'm 14, will Maryland allow me to get a learner's permit to drive?
Not likely.  Most states require residents to be at least 15 or 15 1/2 years old before applying for a learner's permit.  We recommend that your contact the Maryland DMV office or a Maryland-approved driving school such as Summit Driving School to learn more about the minimum driving age requirement in Maryland.
Do I have to complete a Halethorpe Maryland drivers education classroom course or online course before registering for one of Summit Driving School's behind-the-wheel training courses?
Each state has its own rules, but most states will require first-time drivers to take both a driver training course plus either a drivers education classroom course (which are about 30 hours in length) or an approved online drivers education course.  You may want to ask Summit Driving School if they offer one or both programs.
Maryland law says that I must sign up to take a driver training course in order to get licensed to drive in Halethorpe Maryland. Is this something that Summit Driving School can help me with?
Yes, Summit Driving School offers the Maryland-approved behind-the-wheel training course.  For more information about their classes and instruction schedule, please contact Summit Driving School directly.
Exactly what type of driver education do I need in Halethorpe Maryland before I can get my Maryland driver's license?
The prerequisites for getting a driver's licenses vary from state to state, however most states now require teen-agers who are looking to get their first driver's license to sign up to take a safe driving classroom course as well as a behind-the-wheel training course.  We suggest that you contact a local driver training company such as Summit Driving School and ask if they offer a Maryland-approved  behind-the-wheel training course which would satisfy Maryland's driver's education requirements.
What are the laws in Maryland concerning driver training courses? Do I have to take one to get my driver's license?
Yes, you do.  Maryland law states that new drivers successfully complete an approved behind-the-wheel training course as a prerequisite to getting their first driver's license.
Am I required to obtain my instruction permit in Maryland before I am permitted to register for a behind-the-wheel training course like the one Summit Driving School gives its students?
Laws vary from state to state, however most states do require that you receive a learner's permit before you can sign up to take a driver training course like the one that Summit Driving School gives its students.
