Road Skills FAQ’s
Can you tell me if Road Skills is a licensed driving school in Indiana?
Although Road Skills is listed on our list of driving schools in your area, we are unable to say with certainty as to whether they are currently certified to teach behind-the-wheel training courses in Indiana.  We recommend either calling Road Skills directly or the Indiana DMV to find out whether or not Road Skills offers driver training courses that are state-approved.
Is it true that my mom or dad can be my driving instructor when I do my behind-the-wheel training instead of a professional driver training school instructor like the ones they have at Road Skills?
It depends on what your state's laws are.  You should contact the Indiana DMV or a licensed driving school like Road Skills to find out if Indiana allows driver training with a parent.
What if I don't know how to operate a manual-shift automobile? Does Road Skills have automatic-shift vehicles that I can drive when I do my behind-the-wheel training?
If you're taking a Franklin Indiana driver training class, chances are you don't know how to drive ANY vehicle yet-- stick or automatic.  However, if you prefer an automatic vehicle then you should tell Road Skills that prior to signing up to take the course in order to make sure they can accommodate you.
I live in a remote area, that has a lot of dirt roads and rugged terrain. Will Road Skills teach me how to drive in BOTH city AND rural environments?
If you live in a remote area, chances are very good that a local driver training school like Road Skills will want you to be taught how to drive safely on the local area's terrain.
Now that I'm 14, will Indiana allow me to get a learner's permit to drive?
Not likely.  Most states require residents to be at least 15 or 15 1/2 years old before applying for a learner's permit.  We recommend that your contact the Indiana DMV office or a Indiana-approved driving school such as Road Skills to learn more about the minimum driving age requirement in Indiana.
Do I have to complete a Franklin Indiana drivers education classroom course or online course before registering for one of Road Skills's behind-the-wheel training courses?
Each state has its own rules, but most states will require first-time drivers to take both a driver training course plus either a drivers education classroom course (which are about 30 hours in length) or an approved online defensive driving course.  You may want to ask Road Skills if they offer one or both programs.
Indiana's DMV has told me that I need to take a behind-the-wheel training course. Do you know if Road Skills offers this course or not?
Road Skills does offer the driver training course that Indiana requires all new teen-aged drivers to take.  For more information about the courses Road Skills offers, we recommend that you contact Road Skills directly.
What do I need to do to get a driver's license in Franklin Indiana?
It depends on Indiana's laws, but most states require new, teen-aged drivers to register for a drivers education classroom course as well as a behind-the-wheel training course.  You may want to call Road Skills to see if they offer the behind-the-wheel training course that would fulfill the regulations set forth by the Indiana DMV.
Is a driver training course a prerequisite in Franklin Indiana for me to get a drivers license?
The law in Indiana requires that all drivers complete a driver training course as part of their driver education.  You should contact Road Skills directly to find out about the types of courses they offer.
Can I register for a Indiana driver training course prior to having my Indiana learners permit?
Most states require pre-licensed drivers to hold a learners permit before being permitted to enroll in a behind-the-wheel training course.  You should contact a driving school like Road Skills and ask for more information.
