Abel's Driving School FAQ’s
Are all the driving schools listed on your website fully-certified by the California DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses in California?
The driving school directory on our website is for your convenience only, and we cannot absolutely guarantee that every driving school listed is currently certified to offer driving training courses in California.  We suggest you contact the California DMV to make sure a particular driving school is accredited before you sign up to take their driving course.
Do I have to take a driver training course? Can't my parents just give me my driver training?
There are some states that do permit parents or guardians to provide their teen-aged kids' required driver training in order to obtain a driver's license.  However many states do not allow any type of substitution for taking a professionally-taught driver training course.  We suggest you contact your state's DMV to find out what the laws are in your state regarding hands-on driving instruction.
I have no clue how to drive a manual-shift vehicle. What happens if Abel's Driving School makes me train on a stick-shift vehicle?
Considering the fact you are a brand new driver, you probably don't know much about operating ANY type of vehicle....stick OR automatic!  If you prefer to do your behind-the-wheel training with an automatic-shift vehicle, you may want to call Abel's Driving School and let them know before you sign up to take their behind-the-wheel training course.  That way you'll know for certain whether Abel's Driving School can accommodate you before you pay them any money.
I live in a small mountain community, where there are a lot of small, unpaved roads. Will my driver training with Abel's Driving School include being taught how to drive in remote areas? Or do they just offer training for urban driving?
Most local driving schools will likely want their students to know how to drive safely in the local area.  Therefore, chances are good that the driver training you receive from Abel's Driving School will include handling dirt roads and mountain driving.
Are 14-year-olds eligible to obtain a instruction permit in California?
Although a few states allow teen-agers to begin practicing how to drive at 14, most states have set the minimum age for which to receive an instruction permit at either 15 or 15½.  You will need to contact the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a certified driving school like Abel's Driving School to find out what the minimum age for driving is in California.
Is taking a drivers education course in a classroom or online sufficient in Los Angeles California or do I also have to enroll in a driver training class with a professional driving instructor?
It depends on what the California's laws require, but many states do mandate that new, young drivers to enroll in a behind-the-wheel training class with a professional driving instructor as well as a drivers education classroom or online course.
If I need to enroll in a Los Angeles California driver training program, can Abel's Driving School help?
Yes.  Abel's Driving School offers behind-the-wheel training courses in Los Angeles California.  For more information about the type of behind-the-wheel training Abel's Driving School offers and the training schedule, you should contact them directly.
Do I have to take drivers education to get a California driver's license?
Drivers education requirements vary depending on which state you live in, but you should be aware that most states require new, teen-aged drivers to register for both a behind-the-wheel training course in addition to a drivers education classroom or online course.  You may wish to contact the California DMV to find out exactly what requirements you will need to satisfy in order to obtain your first driver's license.
Am I obligated to take a Los Angeles California behind-the-wheel training course?
All drivers in California must take a behind-the-wheel training course.  You should contact Abel's Driving School to learn more about the courses they offer.
Is it possible to sign up to take a California-approved behind-the-wheel training course before I obtain my California learners permit?
It depends on what the specific laws are in California, however most states require first-time drivers to receive an learners permit before registering for a behind-the-wheel training course.  We recommend you contact a driving school such as Abel's Driving School to obtain more information.
