Access Certified Driving School FAQ’s
Are all the driving schools listed on your website fully-licensed by the California DMV to offer driver training courses in California?
The driving school directory on our website is for your convenience only, and we cannot absolutely guarantee that every driving school listed is currently licensed to offer behind-the-wheel training courses in California.  We suggest you contact the California DMV to make sure a particular driver training school is certified before you register for their driving course.
Do I have to take a behind-the-wheel training course? Can't my parents just give me my behind-the-wheel training?
There are some states that do allow parents or guardians to provide their teen-aged kids' required behind-the-wheel training in order to obtain a driver's license.  However many states do not allow any type of substitution for enrolling in a professionally-taught behind-the-wheel training course.  We suggest you contact your state's DMV to find out what the laws are in your state regarding behind-the-wheel training.
Do I need to tell Access Certified Driving School that I need to train with an automatic-shift vehicle? I don't know how to drive a stick-shift car.
Most new drivers don't know how to operate either a stick-shift OR and automatic-shift vehicle!  We recommend that you ask Access Certified Driving School if you can complete your behind-the-wheel training using an automatic-shift vehicle before you enroll in their driver training course.
I don't live anywhere near a city. There are dirt roads and rugged terrain all around my house. How do I know if Access Certified Driving School will train me on how to drive in a remote area like where I live and not just teach me how to drive in a town-or city-type environment?
Since Access Certified Driving School is a local driver training company in your area, it's a safe bet that Access Certified Driving School will be motivated (or perhaps required) to teach its local customers how to drive on bumpy terrain.  If you want to make certain, however, you may want to call Access Certified Driving School to find out exactly what's included in their driver training course before you register with them.
If I'm 14, can I get a driver's permit to drive in California?
Possibly.  However, you should be aware that most states require you to be at least 15½ years old before you can get an instruction permit.  We recommend that you contact the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a certified driving school such as Access Certified Driving School to find out exactly what the minimum age requirement is in California.
Do I have to complete a San Jose California drivers education classroom course or online course before signing up to take one of Access Certified Driving School's behind-the-wheel training courses?
Each state has its own rules, but most states will require first-time drivers to take both a behind-the-wheel training course plus either a defensive driving classroom course (which are about 30 hours in length) or an approved online drivers education course.  You may want to ask Access Certified Driving School if they offer one or both programs.
I'm required to take a driver training course in San Jose California. Do you know if Access Certified Driving School offers behind-the-wheel training classes in San Jose California?
Yes, Access Certified Driving School does offer behind-the-wheel training courses in San Jose California.  For more information about their class schedule and how/when to enroll in one of their behind-the-wheel training courses, please contact Access Certified Driving School directly.
What do I need to do to get a driver's license in San Jose California?
It depends on California's laws, but most states require new, teen-aged drivers to register for a safe driving classroom course as well as a behind-the-wheel training course.  You may want to call Access Certified Driving School to see if they offer the driver training course that would meet the regulations set forth by the California DMV.
Is it necessary for me to sign up for a behind-the-wheel training course in order to get my first California driver's license?
Yes, it is.  All teen-aged drivers applying for their first driver's license in California must complete a state-approved driver training course.
Is it possible to register for a California-approved behind-the-wheel training course before I obtain my California instruction permit?
It depends on what the specific laws are in California, however most states require first-time drivers to receive an instruction permit before signing up for a behind-the-wheel training course.  We recommend you contact a driving school such as Access Certified Driving School to obtain more information.
