AA Driving Academy FAQ’s
Is AA Driving Academy licensed by the Virginia DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses?
Although we include AA Driving Academy in our directory of driving schools for Herndon Virginia, we cannot make any assurances about whether or not AA Driving Academy is certified by the Virginia DMV.  You should contact AA Driving Academy directly and ask them if you are thinking about signing up to take their Herndon Virginia driver training class.
Will the Virginia DMV allow my parents to supervise my driving practice instead of requiring me to take a behind-the-wheel training course at a state-approved driving school?
Possibly.  Some states will allow your parents to supervise your driving practice as a substitute to taking a behind-the-wheel driving course with a professional driving instructor.  You will need to contact the Virginia DMV to find out if your driver training may be done by your parents in Virginia.
I can't drive a stick-shift. Will AA Driving Academy allow me to do my behind-the-wheel training on an automatic-shift vehicle?
We recommend that you contact AA Driving Academy and ask them if you can do your driver training using a vehicle that has an automatic shift before enrolling in their driver training course.
The area in which I live is mostly undeveloped--very few paved roads and mountains are all around. Will AA Driving Academy be able to teach me how to drive safely on rugged terrain as well as in a city or town?
Considering that you live in a remote area, chances are excellent that a local driving school like AA Driving Academy will want you to be able to drive safely on unpaved roads and other types of rugged terrain.  You may wish to contact AA Driving Academy to find out exactly what their driver training course includes before registering for their training course.
Now that I'm 14, will Virginia allow me to get a learner's permit to drive?
Not likely.  Most states require residents to be at least 15 or 15 1/2 years old before applying for a learner's permit.  We recommend that your contact the Virginia DMV office or a Virginia-approved driving school such as AA Driving Academy to learn more about the minimum driving age requirement in Virginia.
Is taking a drivers education course in a classroom or online sufficient in Herndon Virginia or do I also have to register for a behind-the-wheel training class with a professional driving instructor?
It depends on what the Virginia's laws require, but many states do mandate that new, young drivers to take a behind-the-wheel training class with a professional driving instructor as well as a drivers education classroom or online course.
Does AA Driving Academy provide a driver training course like the one that is required by the State of Virginia? I need to complete one in order to obtain my driver license.
AA Driving Academy offers hands-on driver training courses which are approved by the Virginia DMV.  You may want to contact AA Driving Academy directly for more information about their courses and how to go about registering for one.
I live in Herndon Virginia. What are the requirements for me to be able to get my first Virginia driver's license?
It depends on the particular laws of Virginia, but most states require teen-aged first-time license applicants to successfully complete both a drivers education classroom course and a behind-the-wheel training course.  AA Driving Academy may offer courses which would fulfill the driver training requirement, however you will need to contact them directly to find out exactly what types of courses they offer.
Is there a law in Virginia that requires me to take behind-the-wheel training in order to get my driver's license?
Yes.  State law in Virginia mandates that all teen-agers enroll in an approved behind-the-wheel training course before receiving a Virginia driver's license.
Is it possible to enroll in a Virginia-certified driver training course before I obtain my Virginia instruction permit?
It depends on what the specific laws are in Virginia, however most states require first-time drivers to receive an instruction permit before signing up for a driver training course.  We recommend you contact a driving school such as AA Driving Academy to obtain more information.
