Unsupervised Driving Rules Intermediate driver’s license holders may drive unsupervised between 5am and 10pm. After these hours, a qualified supervising driver must be seated in the front passenger seat of the vehicle unless driving to/from work, a school-sponsored activity, or a religious activity
Passenger Rules Intermediate license holders may not carry any non-family passengers who are under the age of 20 for the first six (6) months after being licensed. During the second six (6) month period, you may carry one (1) non-family passengers who are younger than 20 years of age.
Drivers Education Driver education is required for license applicants age 18 and younger in West Virginia
Other Learner's permit and intermediate license holders are prohibited from using cell phones or a text-messaging devices while driving a motor vehicle. This is a primary offense meaning a police officer can stop you solely for using a mobile communication device while you are driving.
