KENTUCKY  DRIVER’S EDUCATION

Summary of Kentucky Graduated Licensing Law

Kentucky has a three stage licensing process for minors.
  1. Permit (at least age 16) We recommend our Driver Ed Kit - Behind The Wheel Version to use during the Permit stage. Shows the parent how to teach collision-free driving habits and provides unique teaching tools (mirrors, checklists, videos, audio instruction series, etc.).
  2. Provisional Privileges Phase (ages 16 - 17) - Must have held Permit at least 180 days (6 months). Must take 4-hour Graduated Licensing class within one year of receiving Provisional License.
  3. Regular License (at least age 18).
