PARENTAL CONSENT
Any applicant who is under 18 years of age, applying for an original driver's license, a change in class of license, or an instruction permit, must have parental consent.
The parent, or legal guardian if neither parent is living, must sign the application. The parent or guardian who signs the application is liable for damage caused by the negligence or willful misconduct of the person under the age of 18 years.
The parent or guardian who signs the application may withdraw consent for a minor under 18 years of age by submitting a written request which is notarized, or signed before an examiner, to the Department of Public Safety. The license or permit would then be cancelled.
