Advanced Driving School FAQ’s
How do I know if Advanced Driving School is certified by California's DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses?
While we do include Advanced Driving School's contact information in our driving school directory, we cannot say with certainty as to whether Advanced Driving School is certified by the State of California.  We recommend that you either contact Advanced Driving School directly or possibly the California DMV to find out if Advanced Driving School is a licensed driver training school.
I've been told that either of my parents can supervise my driver training, so I don't have to attend a Bakersfield California driving school like Advanced Driving School to fulfill my behind-the-wheel training requirement. Do you know if that's true or not?
You will need to contact the California DMV or a state-approved driving school like Advanced Driving School to find out.  Some states do allow parent-taught driving, but many states do not.
I can't operate a stick-shift. Will Advanced Driving School allow me to complete my driver training on an automatic-shift vehicle?
We recommend that you contact Advanced Driving School and ask them if you can do your driver training using a vehicle that has an automatic shift before signing up to take their driver training course.
I live out in the middle of nowhere. There are rural and mountain roads all around. Will Advanced Driving School teach me how to drive in BOTH rural AND city areas?
If you live in a rural or mountain town, chances are that a local driving instruction institute like Advanced Driving School will include behind-the-wheel driver training specifically tailored to that terrain.
I'm turning 14 in a few months. Can I get a learner's permit to drive in California after my 14th birthday?
Most likely, no.  Most states (though not all) have laws which require that you be at least 15 or 15 1/2 before to be eligible to apply for an instruction permit.  Nevertheless, you may wish to contact the California DMV office or a California-certified driving school such as Advanced Driving School to find out for certain what the minimum driving age is in your local area.
Do I have to take both a drivers education classroom course and a driver training course in Bakersfield California to get my California driver's license?
The laws vary depending on which state you live in, but most states do require that pre-licensed drivers sign up to take a drivers education classroom course and a driver training course.  You may want to call a driving instruction company like Advanced Driving School and find out if they offer either (or both) of these programs.
Does Advanced Driving School provide a behind-the-wheel training course like the one that is required by the State of California? I need to complete one in order to obtain my driver license.
Advanced Driving School offers behind-the-wheel training courses which are approved by the California DMV.  You may want to contact Advanced Driving School directly for more information about their courses and how to go about registering for one.
What steps do I have to take in order to get a California drivers license in Bakersfield California?
Most states require that teen-agers who are applying for their first driver's license complete both a drivers education classroom course and a behind-the-wheel training course.  Advanced Driving School may be able to help you fulfill the behind-the-wheel training portion in California.  Please contact Advanced Driving School for more information.

Is there a law in California that requires me to take behind-the-wheel training in order to get my driver's license?
Yes.  State law in California mandates that all teen-agers enroll in an approved behind-the-wheel training course before receiving a California driver's license.
Can I sign up to take a California behind-the-wheel training course prior to having my California learners permit?
Most states require pre-licensed drivers to hold a learners permit before being permitted to enroll in a driver training course.  You should contact a driving school like Advanced Driving School and ask for more information.
