Golden State Driving School FAQ’s
Is Golden State Driving School certified by the California DMV to offer driver training courses?
Although we include Golden State Driving School in our directory of driving schools for San Diego California, we cannot make any assurances about whether or not Golden State Driving School is certified by the California DMV.  You should contact Golden State Driving School directly and ask them if you are thinking about enrolling in their San Diego California driver training class.
Do I have to take a behind-the-wheel training course? Can't my parents just give me my behind-the-wheel training?
There are some states that do permit parents or guardians to provide their teen-aged kids' required behind-the-wheel training in order to obtain a driver's license.  However many states do not allow any type of substitution for attending a professionally-taught driver training course.  We suggest you contact your state's DMV to find out what the laws are in your state regarding behind-the-wheel training.
What happens if I don't know how to operate a stick-shift vehicle? Will Golden State Driving School allow me to do my behind-the-wheel training with an automatic-shift vehicle?
Considering you're a brand new driver, you probably don't know much about operating any type of automobile--manual-shift or automatic-shift!  However, if you prefer to complete your driver training using an automatic-shift vehicle, you should contact Golden State Driving School and let them know before you enroll in their driver training course.  That way you will know for certain if they will accommodate you.
I don't live anywhere near a city. There are dirt roads and rugged terrain all around my house. How do I know if Golden State Driving School will train me on how to drive in a rural area like where I live and not just teach me how to drive in a town-or city-type environment?
Since Golden State Driving School is a local driver training company in your area, it's a safe bet that Golden State Driving School will be motivated (or perhaps required) to teach its local customers how to drive on rugged terrain.  If you want to make certain, however, you may want to call Golden State Driving School to find out exactly what's included in their driver training course before you sign up with them.
Now that I'm 14, will California allow me to get an instruction permit to drive?
Not likely.  Most states require residents to be at least 15 or 15 1/2 years old before applying for a learner's permit.  We recommend that your contact the California DMV office or a California-approved driver training institute such as Golden State Driving School to learn more about the minimum driving age requirement in California.
Do you know if the laws in California require new teen-aged drivers to successfully complete a driver training course in addition to a driver ed classroom or online course?
The laws vary from state to state, but many states do require you to take a behind-the-wheel training course with "hands-on" practice in addition to a driver ed classroom or online course.
I have to register for a safe driving class in San Diego California before California will give me my driver's license. Does Golden State Driving School offer this type of course?
Golden State Driving School does offer the driver training course in San Diego California that is required by the State of California.  You will need to contact Golden State Driving School directly for more information about the behind-the-wheel courses they offer and their class schedules.
What are the prerequisites in San Diego California for obtaining a drivers license?
It depends on your state's laws, however in many states, teen-agers must complete both a safe driving classroom course and a driver training course.  Golden State Driving School may offer an approved behind-the-wheel training course which you could take.  Please contact Golden State Driving School for information regarding their available classes and how to go about signing up for them.
Am I obligated to take a San Diego California behind-the-wheel training course?
All drivers in California are required to take a behind-the-wheel training course.  You should contact Golden State Driving School to learn more about the courses they offer.
Do I have to obtain my learner's permit in California before I am permitted to register for a driver training course like the one Golden State Driving School gives its students?
