Minneapolis Public Schools FAQ’s
Is Minneapolis Public Schools a licensed driving school in Minnesota?
Just because a driving school appears on our directory of driver training institutions, we cannot guarantee that they are fully licensed to offer driver training courses in Minnesota.  We highly recommend that you contact Minneapolis Public Schools directly or the Minnesota DMV to find out for sure if Minneapolis Public Schools offers driver training courses that have been approved by the State of Minnesota.
I heard that parents can fill the role of driving supervisor in Minnesota, so taking a Minneapolis driver training course like the one Minneapolis Public Schools offers is not necessary. Is that true?
You should contact the Minnesota DMV or a licensed driver training school like Minneapolis Public Schools and ask them.  While parent-taught driving instruction is permitted in some states, many states do NOT allow it.
What if I don't know how to drive a stick-shift automobile? Does Minneapolis Public Schools have automatic-shift vehicles that I can drive when I do my driver training?
If you're taking a Minneapolis Minnesota behind-the-wheel training class, chances are you don't know how to drive ANY vehicle yet-- manual or automatic.  However, if you prefer an automatic vehicle then you should tell Minneapolis Public Schools that prior to registering for the course in order to make sure they can accommodate you.
The area in which I live is mostly undeveloped--very few paved roads and mountains are all around. Will Minneapolis Public Schools be able to teach me how to drive safely on rugged terrain as well as in a city or town?
Considering that you live in a rural area, chances are excellent that a local driving school like Minneapolis Public Schools will want you to be able to drive safely on unpaved roads and other types of rugged terrain.  You may wish to contact Minneapolis Public Schools to find out exactly what their behind-the-wheel training course includes before enrolling in their training course.
After I turn 14, will I be eligible to obtain my instruction permit so I can begin to learn how to drive?
It depends on which state you live in, however most states unfortunately require you to be at least 15 (or sometimes 15 1/2) before you can be issued a instruction permit.  We suggest that you contact a local driver training school such as Minneapolis Public Schools or the Minnesota DMV office to learn more about the minimum age requirement for driving in Minnesota.
Do I have to take both a defensive driving classroom course and a driver training course in Minneapolis Minnesota to get my Minnesota driver's license?
The laws vary depending on which state you live in, but most states do require that pre-licensed drivers enroll in a defensive driving classroom course and a driver training course.  You may want to call a driving instruction company like Minneapolis Public Schools and find out if they offer either (or both) of these programs.
I'm required to take a driver training course in Minneapolis Minnesota. Do you know if Minneapolis Public Schools offers defensive driving classes in Minneapolis Minnesota?
Yes, Minneapolis Public Schools does offer behind-the-wheel training courses in Minneapolis Minnesota.  For more information about their class schedule and how/when to sign up for one of their behind-the-wheel training courses, please contact Minneapolis Public Schools directly.
I live in Minneapolis Minnesota. What are the requirements for me to be able to get my first Minnesota driver's license?
It depends on the particular laws of Minnesota, but most states require teen-aged first-time license applicants to successfully complete both a safe driving classroom course and a behind-the-wheel training course.  Minneapolis Public Schools may offer courses which would fulfill the driver training requirement, however you will need to contact them directly to find out exactly what types of courses they offer.
Do I have to take a Minneapolis Minnesota behind-the-wheel training course in order to get a driver's license?
Yes.  All drivers in Minnesota must enroll in an approved behind-the-wheel training course in order to receive a driver's license.  Please contact Minneapolis Public Schools for information on the types of behind-the-wheel training courses they offer in Minneapolis Minnesota.
Is it possible to register for a Minnesota-certified driver training course before I obtain my Minnesota learners permit?
It depends on what the specific laws are in Minnesota, however most states require first-time drivers to receive a learners permit before registering for a driver training course.  We recommend you contact a driving school such as Minneapolis Public Schools to obtain more information.
