Metroplex Defensive Driving FAQ’s
Can you tell me if Metroplex Defensive Driving is a certified driver training school in Texas?
Although Metroplex Defensive Driving is listed on our list of driving schools in your area, we are unable to say with certainty as to whether they are currently approved to teach driver training courses in Texas.  We recommend either calling Metroplex Defensive Driving directly or the Texas DMV to find out whether or not Metroplex Defensive Driving offers driver training courses that are state-approved.
Somebody told me that I can skip out of attending a driver training school if my parents give me behind-the-wheel training instead. Is that permissible in Texas?
Each state has its own rules regarding behind-the-wheel training.  Some states will allow parentally-supervised behind-the-wheel training as a substitute for enrolling in a behind-the-wheel training course which is taught by a professional driving instructor.  However, not all states allow this.  You should contact the Texas DMV to find out for sure.
What if I don't know how to drive a vehicle with a manual-shift? Does Metroplex Defensive Driving have an automatic-shift vehicle they'll let me train with?
Since you're just learning how to drive, you probably don't know how to operate either a stick-shift or an automatic-shift vehicle!  However, if you have a preference as to a stick or an automatic, you probably should call Metroplex Defensive Driving to see if they can accommodate your request prior to your enrolling in their driver training course.
I live in a very remote area, where there are mountains and a lot of unpaved roads. Do you know if Metroplex Defensive Driving offers training for driving in rural areas like where I live instead of just driving on smooth, paved roads in city areas?
Since you live in a rural area, a local driving school such as Metroplex Defensive Driving will tailor your behind-the-wheel training to handle the conditions in your area.
After I turn 14, will I be eligible to get my learner's permit so I can begin to learn how to drive?
It depends on which state you live in, however most states unfortunately require you to be at least 15 (or sometimes 15 1/2) before you can be issued a learner's permit.  We suggest that you contact a local driver training school such as Metroplex Defensive Driving or the Texas DMV office to learn more about the minimum age requirement for driving in Texas.
Will I be required to sign up for both a drivers education classroom or online course and a behind-the-wheel training course in Arlington Texas?
It depends on which state you live in, but many states now require new teen-aged drivers to register for both a drivers education course as well as a behind-the-wheel training course.
Texas law says that I must enroll in a behind-the-wheel training course in order to get licensed to drive in Arlington Texas. Is this something that Metroplex Defensive Driving can help me with?
Yes, Metroplex Defensive Driving offers the Texas-approved behind-the-wheel training course.  For more information about their classes and instruction schedule, please contact Metroplex Defensive Driving directly.
What are the requirements in Arlington Texas for getting a drivers license?
It depends on your state's laws, however in many states, teen-agers must complete both a drivers education classroom course and a behind-the-wheel training course.  Metroplex Defensive Driving may offer an approved driver training course which you could take.  Please contact Metroplex Defensive Driving for information regarding their available classes and how to go about signing up for them.
Is it necessary for me to take a driver training course in order to get my first Texas driver's license?
Yes, it is.  All teen-aged drivers applying for their first driver's license in Texas must complete a state-approved driver training course.
Is it all right if I enroll in a behind-the-wheel training school like Metroplex Defensive Driving prior to my receiving my learner's permit?
In most states, you are required to have already gotten your learner's permit before you register for your driver training course like the one offered by Metroplex Defensive Driving.  We suggest you contact either Metroplex Defensive Driving to find out more information.
