I Drive Safely FAQ’s
Are all the driving schools listed on your website fully-accredited by the Texas DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses in Texas?
The driving school directory on our website is for your convenience only, and we cannot absolutely guarantee that every driving school listed is currently certified to offer behind-the-wheel training courses in Texas.  We suggest you contact the Texas DMV to make sure a particular driving school is licensed before you sign up to take their driving course.
Do I have to take a driver training course? Can't my parents just give me my driver training?
There are some states that do allow parents or guardians to provide their teen-aged kids' required behind-the-wheel training in order to obtain a driver's license.  However many states do not allow any type of substitution for taking a professionally-taught driver training course.  We suggest you contact your state's DMV to find out what the laws are in your state regarding hands-on driving instruction.
What if I don't know how to operate a stick-shift automobile? Does I Drive Safely have automatic-shift vehicles that I can drive when I do my behind-the-wheel training?
If you're taking a Corpus Christi Texas behind-the-wheel training class, chances are you don't know how to drive ANY vehicle yet-- manual or automatic.  However, if you prefer an automatic vehicle then you should tell I Drive Safely that prior to enrolling in the course in order to make sure they can accommodate you.
I live in a very remote area, where there are mountains and a lot of dirt roads. Do you know if I Drive Safely teaches students how to drive in rural areas like where I live instead of just driving on smooth, paved roads in city areas?
Since you live in a remote area, a local driving school such as I Drive Safely will tailor your behind-the-wheel training to handle the conditions in your area.
I'm turning 14 in a few weeks. Can I get a learner's permit to drive in Texas after my 14th birthday?
Most likely, no.  Most states (though not all) have laws which require that you be at least 15 or 15 1/2 before to be eligible to apply for a learner's permit.  Nevertheless, you may wish to contact the Texas DMV office or a Texas-certified driving school such as I Drive Safely to find out for certain what the minimum driving age is in your local area.
Can I take I Drive Safely's driver training course before taking a Corpus Christi Texas drivers education classroom course or online course?
It depends on what Texas's laws prescribe.  However, you should know that most states will require teen-aged, first-time drivers to complete both a drivers education classroom course (which are approximately 30 hours in length, depending on Texas's laws) or an approved online course, plus a state-approved behind-the-wheel training course.  We recommend that you contact I Drive Safely directly to see if they offer either (or both) of these courses.
I have to complete a behind-the-wheel class in Corpus Christi Texas before Texas will give me my driver's license. Does I Drive Safely offer this type of course?
I Drive Safely does offer the behind-the-wheel training course in Corpus Christi Texas that is required by the State of Texas.  You will need to contact I Drive Safely directly for more information about the behind-the-wheel courses they offer and their class schedules.
What are the prerequisites in Corpus Christi Texas for getting a drivers license?
It depends on your state's laws, however in many states, teen-agers must complete both a safe driving classroom course and a behind-the-wheel training course.  I Drive Safely may offer an approved behind-the-wheel training course which you could take.  Please contact I Drive Safely for information regarding their available classes and how to go about signing up for them.
Is hands-on driver training required in Texas in order to be licensed to operate a motor vehicle?
Absolutely.  All new drivers in Texas must take an approved driver training course before they can get a license to independently operate a motor vehicle.
Can I register for a Texas driver training course prior to having my Texas learners permit?
Most states require pre-licensed drivers to hold a learners permit before being permitted to enroll in a driver training course.  You should contact a driving school like I Drive Safely and ask for more information.
