Austin Driving School FAQ’s
Since Austin Driving School appears on your website, does this mean they are approved by the Texas DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses?
The list of driver training schools on our webpage is provided as a convenience to our customers only.  We CANNOT guarantee that every single school listed is fully-approved by the Texas DMV.  You may want to call Austin Driving School directly to find out if they offer a state-certified behind-the-wheel training course.
Will the Texas DMV allow my parents to supervise my driving practice instead of requiring me to take a behind-the-wheel training course at a state-approved driving school?
Possibly.  Some states will allow your parents to supervise your driving practice as a substitute to taking a driver training course with a professional driving instructor.  You will need to contact the Texas DMV to find out if your behind-the-wheel driving may be done by your parents in Texas.
Do you know if Austin Driving School will let me complete my behind-the-wheel training using an automatic-shift vehicle? I don't know anything about using a stick-shift.
Considering you're a brand new driver, you probably don't know a whole lot about driving ANY type of vehicle, be it a manual OR an automatic!  Nevertheless, if you have a preference, you probably should contact Austin Driving School and see if they can accommodate you before registering for their behind-the-wheel training course.
I live in a very remote area, where there are mountains and a lot of unpaved roads. Do you know if Austin Driving School offers training for driving in rural areas like where I live instead of just driving on smooth, paved roads in city areas?
Since you live in a rural area, a local driving school such as Austin Driving School will tailor your driver training to handle the conditions in your area.
If I'm 14, can I get a driver's permit to drive in Texas?
Possibly.  However, you should be aware that most states require you to be at least 15½ years old before you can get an instruction permit.  We recommend that you contact the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a certified driving school such as Austin Driving School to find out exactly what the minimum age requirement is in Texas.
Do I have to take both a drivers education classroom course and a driver training course in Ft. Worth Texas to get my Texas driver's license?
The laws vary depending on which state you live in, but most states do require that pre-licensed drivers sign up to take a defensive driving classroom course and a driver training course.  You may want to call a driving instruction company like Austin Driving School and find out if they offer either (or both) of these programs.
Texas's DMV has told me that I need to take a behind-the-wheel training course. Do you know if Austin Driving School offers this course or not?
Austin Driving School does offer the driver training course that Texas requires all new teen-aged drivers to take.  For more information about the courses Austin Driving School offers, we recommend that you contact Austin Driving School directly.
I live in Ft. Worth Texas. What are the requirements for me to be able to get my first Texas driver's license?
It depends on the particular laws of Texas, but most states require teen-aged first-time license applicants to successfully complete both a drivers education classroom course and a driver training course.  Austin Driving School may offer courses which would meet the behind-the-wheel training requirement, however you will need to contact them directly to find out exactly what types of courses they offer.
I live in Ft. Worth Texas and would like to apply for my first driver's license. Do I need to take a driver training course before I can be licensed?
Texas law mandates that all first-time drivers enroll in an approved behind-the-wheel training program before receiving their Texas driver's license.  Austin Driving School may offer a driver training course that you are looking for.  Please contact Austin Driving School directly for complete information as to what types of behind-the-wheel training courses they offer.
Do I need to have my instruction permit before I register for a behind-the-wheel training course like the one that Austin Driving School offers?
You will need to contact Austin Driving School or the Texas DMV to find out if you are allowed to sign up with a driving school like Austin Driving School before receiving your Texas instruction permit.
