A Proven Defensive Driving FAQ’s
A Proven Defensive Driving's contact information is listed on your webpage. How can I know for sure if it is an approved driver training school in Texas?
Even though we provide a list of driver training schools on our website, we have no way of knowing for sure as to whether or not a particular school is licensed by the Texas DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses.  We strongly suggest that you contact A Proven Defensive Driving directly or check with the Texas DMV to find out for sure if A Proven Defensive Driving is a licensed school.
I heard that parents can fill the role of driving supervisor in Texas, so taking a Houston driver training course like the one A Proven Defensive Driving offers is not necessary. Is that true?
You should contact the Texas DMV or a licensed driver training school like A Proven Defensive Driving and ask them.  While parent-taught driving instruction is permitted in some states, many states do NOT allow it.
I don't know how to drive using a stick-shift. Will A Proven Defensive Driving have an automatic-shift car available that I can use for my behind-the-wheel training?
Since you're enrolling in a Houston Texas behind-the-wheel training class, chances are good that you don't know how to drive either a stick-shift OR an automatic!  However, you should let A Proven Defensive Driving know what your preference is before signing up to take their driver class.  That way you'll know for sure they will accommodate you.
I live in a small rural community, where there are a lot of small, unpaved roads. Will my driver training with A Proven Defensive Driving include learning how to drive in rural areas? Or do they just offer training for urban driving?
Most local driving schools will likely want their students to be taught how to drive safely in the local area.  Therefore, chances are good that the driver training you receive from A Proven Defensive Driving will include handling unpaved roads and mountain driving.
Are 14-year-olds eligible to obtain a learner's permit in Texas?
Although a few states allow teen-agers to begin practicing how to drive at 14, most states have set the minimum age for which to hold an instruction permit at either 15 or 15½.  You will need to contact the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driving instruction company like A Proven Defensive Driving to find out what the minimum age for driving is in Texas.
Do you know if the laws in Texas require new teen-aged drivers to successfully complete a behind-the-wheel training course in addition to a drivers education classroom or online course?
The laws vary from state to state, but many states do require you to take a driver training course with "hands-on" practice in addition to a driver ed classroom or online course.
Texas's DMV has told me that I need to take a driver training course. Do you know if A Proven Defensive Driving offers this course or not?
A Proven Defensive Driving does offer the driver training course that Texas requires all new teen-aged drivers to take.  For more information about the courses A Proven Defensive Driving offers, we recommend that you contact A Proven Defensive Driving directly.
How do I obtain a drivers license in Houston Texas?
In most states, pre-licensed teens are required to complete both a classroom drivers education course and a behind-the-wheel training course.  A Proven Defensive Driving may be able to help you fulfill the driver training portion in Texas.
Am I obligated to take a Houston Texas behind-the-wheel training course?
All drivers in Texas are required to take a driver training course.  You should contact A Proven Defensive Driving to learn more about the courses they offer.
Is it all right if I register with a behind-the-wheel training school like A Proven Defensive Driving prior to my receiving my instruction permit?
In most states, you are required to have already gotten your learner's permit before you register for your behind-the-wheel training course like the one offered by A Proven Defensive Driving.  We suggest you contact either A Proven Defensive Driving to find out more information.
