Aztec Defensive Driving FAQ’s
How do I know if Aztec Defensive Driving is certified by Texas's DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses?
While we do include Aztec Defensive Driving's contact information in our driving school directory, we cannot say with certainty as to whether Aztec Defensive Driving is licensed by the State of Texas.  We recommend that you either contact Aztec Defensive Driving directly or possibly the Texas DMV to find out if Aztec Defensive Driving is a licensed driver training school.
I've been told that either of my parents can supervise my behind-the-wheel training, so I don't have to attend a Houston Texas driving school like Aztec Defensive Driving to fulfill my behind-the-wheel training requirement. Do you know if that's true or not?
You will need to contact the Texas DMV or a state-approved driver training school like Aztec Defensive Driving to find out.  Some states do allow parent-taught driving, but many states do not.
Do you know if Aztec Defensive Driving will let me take my driver training using an automatic-shift vehicle? I don't know anything about using a stick-shift.
Considering you're a brand new driver, you probably don't know a whole lot about driving ANY type of vehicle, be it a stick OR an automatic!  Nevertheless, if you have a preference, you probably should contact Aztec Defensive Driving and see if they can accommodate you before signing up to take their driver training course.
The area in which I live is mostly undeveloped--very few paved roads and mountains are all around. Will Aztec Defensive Driving be able to teach me how to drive safely on rugged terrain as well as in a city or town?
Considering that you live in a rural area, chances are excellent that a local driving school like Aztec Defensive Driving will want you to be able to drive safely on dirt roads and other types of bumpy terrain.  You may wish to contact Aztec Defensive Driving to find out exactly what their driver training course includes before enrolling in their training course.
Are 14-year-olds allowed to obtain a learner's permit in Texas?
Although a few states allow teen-agers to begin practicing how to drive at 14, most states have set the youngest age for which to hold a learner's permit at either 15 or 15½.  You will need to contact the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driving instruction company like Aztec Defensive Driving to find out what the minimum age for driving is in Texas.
Do I have to take both a drivers education classroom course and a behind-the-wheel training course in Houston Texas to get my Texas driver's license?
The laws vary depending on which state you live in, but most states do require that pre-licensed drivers register for a drivers education classroom course and a behind-the-wheel training course.  You may want to call a driving instruction company like Aztec Defensive Driving and find out if they offer either (or both) of these programs.
Texas's DMV has told me that I need to take a driver training course. Do you know if Aztec Defensive Driving offers this course or not?
Aztec Defensive Driving does offer the driver training course that Texas requires all new teen-aged drivers to take.  For more information about the courses Aztec Defensive Driving offers, we recommend that you contact Aztec Defensive Driving directly.
What do I need to do to get a driver's license in Houston Texas?
It depends on Texas's laws, but most states require new, teen-aged drivers to enroll in a drivers education classroom course as well as a behind-the-wheel training course.  You may want to call Aztec Defensive Driving to see if they offer the driver training course that would meet the regulations set forth by the Texas DMV.
Is a behind-the-wheel training course required in Houston Texas for me to get a drivers license?
The law in Texas requires that all drivers complete a driver training program as part of their driver education.  You should contact Aztec Defensive Driving directly to find out about the types of courses they offer.
Is it all right if I register with a driver training school like Aztec Defensive Driving prior to my receiving my instruction permit?
In most states, you are required to have already gotten your instruction permit before you enroll in your driver training course like the one offered by Aztec Defensive Driving.  We suggest you contact either Aztec Defensive Driving to find out more information.
