Collision-Free Driver Ed FAQ’s
Is Collision-Free Driver Ed a licensed driving school in Texas?
Just because a driving school appears on our directory of driver training institutions, we cannot guarantee that they are fully licensed to offer behind-the-wheel training courses in Texas.  We highly recommend that you contact Collision-Free Driver Ed directly or the Texas DMV to find out for sure if Collision-Free Driver Ed offers behind-the-wheel training courses that have been approved by the State of Texas.
I heard that parents can fill the role of driving supervisor in Texas, so taking a Houston behind-the-wheel training course like the one Collision-Free Driver Ed offers is not necessary. Is that true?
You should contact the Texas DMV or a licensed driving school like Collision-Free Driver Ed and ask them.  While parent-taught driving instruction is permitted in some states, many states do NOT allow it.
Do you know if Collision-Free Driver Ed will let me complete my behind-the-wheel training using an automatic-shift vehicle? I don't know anything about using a manual-shift.
Considering you're a brand new driver, you probably don't know a whole lot about driving ANY type of vehicle, be it a manual OR an automatic!  Nevertheless, if you have a preference, you probably should contact Collision-Free Driver Ed and see if they can accommodate you before signing up to take their behind-the-wheel training course.
What happens to those of us who live in a rural area? Will Collision-Free Driver Ed include instruction on how to drive on dirt roads, mountain roads, and other bumpy terrain?
If you live in a remote location, there is a high probability that a local driving school like Collision-Free Driver Ed will either want--or even be required--to tailor their instruction towards driving safely in your particular locale.
If I'm 14, can I get a driver's permit to drive in Texas?
Possibly.  However, you should be aware that most states require you to be at least 15½ years old before you can get an instruction permit.  We recommend that you contact the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a certified driving school such as Collision-Free Driver Ed to find out exactly what the minimum age requirement is in Texas.
I live in Houston Texas. Does the law say I have to successfully complete both a driver ed classroom or online course and a behind-the-wheel training course in order to be fully-licensed here?
Each state has its own laws in regards to licensing procedures.  However, most states do mandate that new, teen-aged drivers enroll in both a behind-the-wheel training course plus either a drivers education online course or drivers education classroom course .
I have to complete a behind-the-wheel class in Houston Texas before Texas will give me my driver's license. Does Collision-Free Driver Ed offer this type of course?
Collision-Free Driver Ed does offer the driver training course in Houston Texas that is required by the State of Texas.  You will need to contact Collision-Free Driver Ed directly for more information about the behind-the-wheel courses they offer and their class schedules.
How do I obtain a drivers license in Houston Texas?
In most states, pre-licensed teens are required to complete both a classroom safe driving course and a behind-the-wheel training course.  Collision-Free Driver Ed may be able to help you meet the behind-the-wheel training portion in Texas.
What does the law in Texas say about driver training courses? Do I have to take one to get my driver's license?
Yes, you do.  Texas law states that new drivers successfully complete an approved behind-the-wheel training course as a prerequisite to getting their first driver's license.
Can I sign up to take a Texas-licensed behind-the-wheel training course even if I don't have my Texas learners permit yet?
Most likely, no.  Most states have laws that mandate a pre-licensed driver to have obtained a Texas learners permit before registering in a Texas behind-the-wheel training course.  It would be best for you to contact a driving school such as Collision-Free Driver Ed and ask for more information.
