Guardian Responsible Driving FAQ’s
Can you tell me if Guardian Responsible Driving is a licensed driving school in Texas?
Although Guardian Responsible Driving is listed on our list of driving schools in your area, we are unable to say with certainty as to whether they are currently certified to teach behind-the-wheel training courses in Texas.  We recommend either calling Guardian Responsible Driving directly or the Texas DMV to find out whether or not Guardian Responsible Driving offers hands-on driving courses that are state-approved.
Do you know if I can do my behind-the-wheel training with my mother or father instead of attending a behind-the-wheel training course like the ones offered by Guardian Responsible Driving?
Some states allow teen-agers to do their behind-the-wheel training with their parents instead of attending a professional driving school.  We recommend that you contact the Texas DMV or Guardian Responsible Driving directly to find out if Texas allows parent-taught driver training.
What happens if I don't know how to operate a stick-shift vehicle? Will Guardian Responsible Driving allow me to do my behind-the-wheel training with an automatic-shift car?
Considering you're a brand new driver, you probably don't know much about operating any type of car--manual-shift or automatic-shift!  However, if you prefer to complete your driver training using an automatic-shift vehicle, you should contact Guardian Responsible Driving and let them know before you sign up to take their behind-the-wheel training course.  That way you will know for certain if they will accommodate you.
The area in which I live is mostly undeveloped--very few paved roads and mountains are all around. Will Guardian Responsible Driving be able to teach me how to drive safely on bumpy terrain as well as in a city or town?
Considering that you live in a remote area, chances are excellent that a local driving school like Guardian Responsible Driving will want you to be able to drive safely on unpaved roads and other types of bumpy terrain.  You may wish to contact Guardian Responsible Driving to find out exactly what their driver training course includes before registering for their training course.
I just turned 14 years old. Am I eligible to apply for my instruction permit in Texas?
Probably not.  The minimum age requirement for holding a learners permit in most states is 15 1/2.  You should contact the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driving school such as Guardian Responsible Driving to find out more information about the minimum age requirement in Texas.
Do you know if the laws in Texas require new teen-aged drivers to take a behind-the-wheel training course in addition to a drivers education classroom or online course?
The laws vary from state to state, but many states do require you to register for a driver training course with "hands-on" practice in addition to a drivers education classroom or online course.
I have to take a drivers education course in Houston Texas. Can I meet this requirement by enrolling in Guardian Responsible Driving?
Yes, Guardian Responsible Driving offers defensive driving courses in Houston Texas.  You will need to contact Guardian Responsible Driving directly to get more information on the types of courses they offer and when to register for a class.
What do I need to do to get a driver's license in Houston Texas?
It depends on Texas's laws, but most states require new, teen-aged drivers to sign up to take a drivers education classroom course as well as a behind-the-wheel training course.  You may want to call Guardian Responsible Driving to see if they offer the driver training course that would meet the regulations set forth by the Texas DMV.
Is hands-on driver training required in Texas in order to be licensed to drive a car?
Absolutely.  All new drivers in Texas must take an approved driver training course before they can get a license to independently drive a motor vehicle.
Am I required to obtain my learner's permit in Texas before I am allowed to enroll in a behind-the-wheel training course like the one Guardian Responsible Driving gives its students?
Laws vary from state to state, however most states do require that you hold a learner's permit before you can sign up to take a behind-the-wheel training course like the one that Guardian Responsible Driving gives its students.
