Lord's Defensive Driving School FAQ’s
How do I know if Lord's Defensive Driving School is licensed by Texas's DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses?
While we do include Lord's Defensive Driving School's contact information in our driving school directory, we cannot say with certainty as to whether Lord's Defensive Driving School is licensed by the State of Texas.  We recommend that you either contact Lord's Defensive Driving School directly or possibly the Texas DMV to find out if Lord's Defensive Driving School is a certified driver training school.
Somebody told me that I can skip out of attending a driver training school if my parents give me behind-the-wheel training instead. Is that permissible in Texas?
Each state has its own laws regarding driver training.  Some states will allow parentally-supervised behind-the-wheel training as a substitute for attending a driver training course which is taught by a professional driving instructor.  However, not all states allow this.  You should contact the Texas DMV to find out for sure.
What if I don't know how to operate a stick-shift automobile? Does Lord's Defensive Driving School have automatic-shift vehicles that I can drive when I do my behind-the-wheel training?
If you're taking a Houston Texas behind-the-wheel training class, chances are you don't know how to drive ANY vehicle yet-- stick or automatic.  However, if you prefer an automatic vehicle then you should tell Lord's Defensive Driving School that prior to enrolling in the course in order to make sure they can accommodate you.
What happens to those of us who live in a non-urban area? Will Lord's Defensive Driving School include instruction on how to drive on dirt roads, mountain roads, and other rugged?
If you live in a rural location, there is a high probability that a local driving school like Lord's Defensive Driving School will either want--or even be required--to tailor their instruction towards driving safely in your particular area.
Can I get my Texas instruction permit once I turn 14?
Most likely, no.  Most states have set the minimum age to obtain an instruction permit at 15 or 15½.  You may want to contact the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driving instruction school like Lord's Defensive Driving School to learn more about the minimum age requirement in Texas.
Will I be required to sign up for both a drivers education classroom or online course and a behind-the-wheel training course in Houston Texas?
It depends on which state you live in, but many states now mandate new teen-aged drivers to register for both a drivers education course as well as a driver training course.
I'm required to take a driver training course in Houston Texas. Do you know if Lord's Defensive Driving School offers driver training classes in Houston Texas?
Yes, Lord's Defensive Driving School does offer defensive driving courses in Houston Texas.  For more information about their class schedule and how/when to enroll in one of their behind-the-wheel training courses, please contact Lord's Defensive Driving School directly.
What do I need to do to obtain a driver's license in Houston Texas?
It depends on Texas's laws, but most states require new, teen-aged drivers to sign up to take a safe driving classroom course as well as a driver training course.  You may want to call Lord's Defensive Driving School to see if they offer the driver training course that would fulfill the regulations set forth by the Texas DMV.
Am I obligated to take a Houston Texas behind-the-wheel training course?
All drivers in Texas are required to take a behind-the-wheel training course.  You should contact Lord's Defensive Driving School to learn more about the courses they offer.
Is it all right if I sign up with a behind-the-wheel training school like Lord's Defensive Driving School prior to my receiving my instruction permit?
In most states, you are required to have already gotten your learner's permit before you sign up to take your behind-the-wheel training course like the one offered by Lord's Defensive Driving School.  We suggest you contact either Lord's Defensive Driving School to find out more information.
