License 2 Drive FAQ’s
Since License 2 Drive appears on your website, does this mean they've been approved by the Texas DMV to offer driver training courses?
The list of driver training schools on our webpage is provided as a convenience to our customers only.  We CANNOT guarantee that every single school listed is fully-certified by the Texas DMV.  You may want to call License 2 Drive directly to find out if they offer a state-certified behind-the-wheel training course.
Somebody told me that I can skip out of attending a driver training school if my parents give me behind-the-wheel training instead. Is that permissible in Texas?
Each state has its own laws regarding behind-the-wheel training.  Some states will allow parentally-supervised driver training as a substitute for taking a behind-the-wheel training course which is taught by a professional driving instructor.  However, not all states allow this.  You should contact the Texas DMV to find out for sure.
Do I need to tell License 2 Drive that I need to train with an automatic-shift automobile? I don't know how to drive a manual-shift vehicle.
Most new drivers don't know how to operate either a manual-shift OR and automatic-shift car!  We recommend that you ask License 2 Drive if you can complete your behind-the-wheel training using an automatic-shift automobile before you register for their driver training course.
I live in a very remote area, where there are mountains and a lot of unpaved roads. Do you know if License 2 Drive offers training for driving in rural areas like where I live instead of just driving on smooth, paved roads in urban areas?
Since you live in a remote area, a local driving school such as License 2 Drive will tailor your driver training to handle the conditions in your area.
I'm turning 14 in a few days. Can I get a learner's permit to drive in Texas after my 14th birthday?
Most likely, no.  Most states (though not all) have laws which require that you be at least 15 or 15 1/2 before to be eligible to apply for an instruction permit.  Nevertheless, you may wish to contact the Texas DMV office or a Texas-certified driving school such as License 2 Drive to find out for certain what the minimum driving age is in your local area.
Is taking a drivers education course in a classroom or online sufficient in Mansfield Texas or do I also have to register for a driver training class with a professional driving instructor?
It depends on what the Texas's laws require, but many states do mandate that new, young drivers to enroll in a behind-the-wheel training class with a professional driving instructor as well as a drivers education classroom or online course.
I have to take a driver training class in Mansfield Texas before Texas will give me my driver's license. Does License 2 Drive offer this type of course?
License 2 Drive does offer the safe driver training course in Mansfield Texas that is required by the State of Texas.  You will need to contact License 2 Drive directly for more information about the driver courses they offer and their class schedules.
Do I have to take drivers education to get a Texas driver's license?
Drivers education requirements vary depending on which state you live in, but you should be aware that most states require new, teen-aged drivers to register for both a driver training course in addition to a safe driving classroom or online course.  You may wish to contact the Texas DMV to find out exactly what requirements you will need to fulfill in order to obtain your first driver's license.
I live in Mansfield Texas and would like to apply for my first driver's license. Do I need to take a driver training course before I can be licensed?
Texas law mandates that all new drivers successfully complete an approved behind-the-wheel training program before receiving their Texas driver's license.  License 2 Drive may offer a driver training course that you are looking for.  Please contact License 2 Drive directly for complete information as to what types of behind-the-wheel training courses they offer.
Can I register for a Texas-licensed driver training course even if I don't have my Texas learners permit yet?
Most likely, no.  Most states have laws that mandate a pre-licensed driver to have obtained a Texas instruction permit before registering in a Texas behind-the-wheel training course.  It would be best for you to contact a driving school such as License 2 Drive and ask for more information.
