Texas Driving School FAQ’s
Texas Driving School's contact information is listed on your webpage. How can I find out if it is a licensed driver training school in Texas?
Even though we provide a list of behind-the-wheel training schools on our website, we have no way of knowing for sure as to whether or not a particular school is certified by the Texas DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses.  We strongly suggest that you contact Texas Driving School directly or check with the Texas DMV to find out for sure if Texas Driving School is a licensed school.
Do you know if I can complete my behind-the-wheel training with my mother or father instead of attending a driving school like Texas Driving School?
Some states allow teen-agers to complete their driver training with their parents instead of attending a professional driver training school.  We recommend that you contact the Texas DMV or Texas Driving School directly to find out if Texas allows parent-taught driver training.
Do I need to tell Texas Driving School that I need to train with an automatic-shift automobile? I don't know how to operate a stick-shift vehicle.
Most new drivers don't know how to operate either a stick-shift OR and automatic-shift car!  We recommend that you ask Texas Driving School if you can complete your driver training using an automatic-shift car before you sign up to take their driver training course.
I don't live anywhere near a city. There are dirt roads and rugged terrain all around my house. How do I know if Texas Driving School will train me on how to drive in a remote area like where I live and not just teach me how to drive in a town-or city-type environment?
Since Texas Driving School is a local driver training company in your area, it's a safe bet that Texas Driving School will be motivated (or perhaps required) to teach its local customers how to drive on rugged terrain.  If you want to make certain, however, you may want to call Texas Driving School to find out exactly what's included in their driver training course before you register with them.
If I'm 14, can I get an instruction permit to drive in Texas?
Possibly.  However, you should be aware that most states require you to be at least 15½ years old before you can get an instruction permit.  We recommend that you contact the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a certified driving school such as Texas Driving School to find out exactly what the minimum age requirement is in Texas.
I live in Portland Texas. Does the law say I have to enroll in both a drivers education classroom or online course and a driver training course in order to be fully-licensed here?
Each state has its own laws in regards to licensing procedures.  However, most states do require that new, teen-aged drivers take both a driver training course plus either a drivers education online course or drivers education classroom course .
If I need to enroll in a Portland Texas driver training program, can Texas Driving School help?
Yes.  Texas Driving School offers behind-the-wheel training courses in Portland Texas.  For more information about the type of behind-the-wheel training Texas Driving School offers and the training schedule, you should contact them directly.
Do I have to take drivers education to get a Texas driver's license?
Drivers education requirements vary depending on which state you live in, but you should be aware that most states require new, teen-aged drivers to complete both a behind-the-wheel training course in addition to a drivers education classroom or online course.  You may wish to contact the Texas DMV to find out exactly what requirements you will need to fulfill in order to obtain your first driver's license.
Is it necessary for me to take a behind-the-wheel training course in order to get my first Texas driver's license?
Yes, it is.  All teen-aged drivers applying for their first driver's license in Texas are required to take a state-approved behind-the-wheel training course.
Am I required to obtain my learner's permit in Texas before I am allowed to register for a behind-the-wheel training course like the one Texas Driving School gives its students?
Laws vary from state to state, however most states do require that you hold a learner's permit before you can sign up to take a behind-the-wheel training course like the one that Texas Driving School gives its students.
