55 Driving School FAQ’s
Since 55 Driving School is listed on your website, does this mean they are approved by the Texas DMV to offer driver training courses?
The list of driver training schools on our webpage is provided as a convenience to our customers only.  We CANNOT guarantee that every single school listed is fully-certified by the Texas DMV.  You may want to call 55 Driving School directly to find out if they offer a state-certified behind-the-wheel training course.
Do I have to take a driver training course? Can't my parents just give me my driver training?
There are some states that do permit parents or guardians to provide their teen-aged kids' required behind-the-wheel training in order to obtain a driver's license.  However many states do not allow any type of substitution for taking a professionally-taught driver training course.  We suggest you contact your state's DMV to find out what the laws are in your state regarding hands-on driving instruction.
I have no clue how to drive a stick-shift vehicle. What happens if 55 Driving School makes me train on a manual-shift vehicle?
Considering the fact you are a brand new driver, you probably don't know much about operating ANY type of vehicle....stick OR automatic!  If you prefer to do your behind-the-wheel training with an automatic-shift vehicle, you may want to call 55 Driving School and let them know before you sign up to take their behind-the-wheel training course.  That way you'll know for sure whether 55 Driving School will be able to accommodate you before you pay them any money.
I don't live anywhere near a city. There are unpaved roads and bumpy terrain all around my house. How do I know if 55 Driving School will train me on how to drive in a rural area like where I live and not just teach me how to drive in a town-or city-type environment?
Since 55 Driving School is a local driver training company in your area, it's a safe bet that 55 Driving School will be motivated (or perhaps required) to teach its local customers how to drive on rugged terrain.  If you want to make certain, however, you may want to call 55 Driving School to find out exactly what's included in their driver training course before you register with them.
After I turn 14, will I be eligible to obtain my learner's permit so I can begin to learn how to drive?
It depends on which state you live in, however most states unfortunately require you to be at least 15 (or sometimes 15 1/2) before you can be issued a learner's permit.  We suggest that you contact a local driver training school such as 55 Driving School or the Texas DMV office to learn more about the minimum age requirement for driving in Texas.
Can I take 55 Driving School's behind-the-wheel training course before taking a San Antonio Texas drivers education classroom course or online course?
It depends on what Texas's laws say.  However, you should know that most states will require teen-aged, first-time drivers to complete both a defensive driving classroom course (which are approximately 30 hours in length, depending on Texas's laws) or an approved online course, plus a state-approved behind-the-wheel training course.  We recommend that you contact 55 Driving School directly to see if they offer either (or both) of these courses.
I have to register for a behind-the-wheel class in San Antonio Texas before Texas will give me my driver's license. Does 55 Driving School offer this type of course?
55 Driving School does offer the safe driver training course in San Antonio Texas that is required by the State of Texas.  You will need to contact 55 Driving School directly for more information about the behind-the-wheel courses they offer and their class schedules.
I live in San Antonio Texas. What are the requirements for me to be able to get my first Texas driver's license?
It depends on the particular laws of Texas, but most states require teen-aged first-time license applicants to successfully complete both a drivers education classroom course and a driver training course.  55 Driving School may offer courses which would meet the driver training requirement, however you will need to contact them directly to find out exactly what types of courses they offer.
What are the laws in Texas concerning driver training courses? Do I have to take one to get my driver's license?
Yes, you do.  Texas law states that new drivers successfully complete an approved driver training course as a prerequisite to getting their first driver's license.
Do I have to receive my learner's permit in Texas before I am allowed to register for a behind-the-wheel training course like the one 55 Driving School gives its students?
Laws vary from state to state, however most states do require that you obtain a learner's permit before you can register for a behind-the-wheel training course like the one that 55 Driving School gives its students.
