Austin Driving School FAQ’s
Since Austin Driving School appears on your website, does this mean they are approved by the Texas DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses?
The list of driving schools on our webpage is provided as a convenience to our customers only.  We CANNOT guarantee that every single school listed is fully-approved by the Texas DMV.  You may want to call Austin Driving School directly to find out if they offer a state-certified behind-the-wheel training course.
Will the Texas DMV allow my parents to supervise my driving practice instead of requiring me to take a behind-the-wheel training course at a state-approved driving school?
Possibly.  Some states will allow your parents to supervise your driving practice as a substitute to taking a behind-the-wheel driving course with a professional driving instructor.  You will need to contact the Texas DMV to find out if your driver training may be done by your parents in Texas.
Do you know if Austin Driving School will let me take my behind-the-wheel training using an automatic-shift vehicle? I don't know anything about using a manual-shift.
Considering you're a brand new driver, you probably don't know a whole lot about driving ANY type of vehicle, be it a manual OR an automatic!  Nevertheless, if you have a preference, you probably should contact Austin Driving School and see if they can accommodate you before signing up to take their behind-the-wheel training course.
I live in a small rural community, where there are a lot of small, unpaved roads. Will my driver training with Austin Driving School include being taught how to drive in remote areas? Or do they just offer training for urban driving?
Most local driving schools will likely want their students to know how to drive safely in the local area.  Therefore, chances are good that the driver training you receive from Austin Driving School will include handling dirt roads and mountain driving.
After I turn 14, will I be eligible to obtain my instruction permit so I can begin to learn how to drive?
It depends on which state you live in, however most states unfortunately require you to be at least 15 (or sometimes 15 1/2) before you can be issued a learner's permit.  We suggest that you contact a local driver training school such as Austin Driving School or the Texas DMV office to learn more about the minimum age requirement for driving in Texas.
Do I have to take a San Antonio Texas classroom or online drivers education course before I can enroll in a behind-the-wheel training course through Austin Driving School?
This requirement varies by state but most states do require pre-licensed drivers to take BOTH a classroom-based driver education course (generally 30 hours in length) AND a driver training course.  You should ask Austin Driving School if they offer one or both programs.
I'm required to take a behind-the-wheel training course in San Antonio Texas. Do you know if Austin Driving School offers driver training classes in San Antonio Texas?
Yes, Austin Driving School does offer behind-the-wheel training courses in San Antonio Texas.  For more information about their class schedule and how/when to enroll in one of their behind-the-wheel training courses, please contact Austin Driving School directly.
I live in San Antonio Texas. What requirements must I meet to be able to get my first Texas driver's license?
It depends on the particular laws of Texas, but most states require teen-aged first-time license applicants to successfully complete both a drivers education classroom course and a behind-the-wheel training course.  Austin Driving School may offer courses which would meet the driver training requirement, however you will need to contact them directly to find out exactly what types of courses they offer.
Do I have to take a San Antonio Texas behind-the-wheel training course in order to get a driver's license?
Yes.  All drivers in Texas must successfully complete an approved driver training course in order to be licensed to operate a motor vehicle.  Please contact Austin Driving School for information on the types of driver training courses they offer in San Antonio Texas.
Will Texas allow me to sign up to take a driver training course before I actually get my instruction permit?
You will need to contact your state's DMV office to find out.  However, most states require that you obtain your learner's permit before you enroll in a driver training course.
