Texas Driving School FAQ’s
Is Texas Driving School licensed by the Texas DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses?
Although we include Texas Driving School in our directory of driving schools for San Antonio Texas, we cannot make any assurances about whether or not Texas Driving School is licensed by the Texas DMV.  You should contact Texas Driving School directly and ask them if you are thinking about enrolling in their San Antonio Texas behind-the-wheel training class.
Could I just have my mother or father give me my behind-the-wheel training instead of paying money to enroll in a professional behind-the-wheel training course?
It depends on which state you live in.  There are some states which allow you to do your behind-the-wheel training with a parent or guardian instead of enrolling in a professional driving school.  However many states require that new drivers take a professionally-taught behind-the-wheel training course.  We recommend that you check with your state's DMV office to find out if your parent or guardian can fill the role as your behind-the-wheel driving instructor.
What if I don't know how to drive a vehicle with a stick-shift? Does Texas Driving School have an automatic-shift vehicle they'll let me train with?
Since you're just learning how to drive, you probably don't know how to operate either a stick-shift or an automatic-shift vehicle!  However, if you have a preference as to a stick or an automatic, you probably should call Texas Driving School to see if they can accommodate your request prior to your enrolling in their behind-the-wheel training course.
The area in which I live is mostly undeveloped--very few paved roads and mountains are all around. Will Texas Driving School be able to teach me how to drive safely on rugged terrain as well as in a city or town?
Considering that you live in a remote area, chances are excellent that a local driving school like Texas Driving School will want you to be able to drive safely on dirt roads and other types of bumpy terrain.  You may wish to contact Texas Driving School to find out exactly what their driver training course includes before signing up to take their training course.
I'm turning 14 in a few months. Can I get a instruction permit to drive in Texas after my 14th birthday?
Most likely, no.  Most states (though not all) have laws which require that you be at least 15 or 15 1/2 before to be eligible to apply for an instruction permit.  Nevertheless, you may wish to contact the Texas DMV office or a Texas-certified driving school such as Texas Driving School to find out for certain what the minimum driving age is in your local area.
I live in San Antonio Texas. Does the law say I have to register for both a drivers education classroom or online course and a driver training course in order to be fully-licensed here?
Each state has its own laws in regards to licensing procedures.  However, most states do require that new, teen-aged drivers enroll in both a behind-the-wheel training course plus either a drivers education online course or drivers education classroom course .
I have to take a behind-the-wheel training course in San Antonio Texas. Can I meet this requirement by signing up with Texas Driving School?
Yes, Texas Driving School offers behind-the-wheel training courses in San Antonio Texas.  You will need to contact Texas Driving School directly to get more information on the types of courses they offer and when to register for a class.
What type of driver ed do I need before Texas will give me a driver's license?
Each state has its own requirements concerning drivers education, although you should know that most states now require all new, young drivers to register for a safe driving classroom or online course as well as a driver training course.  Texas Driving School may be able to help you fulfill the behind-the-wheel training requirement in Texas.  Please contact either Texas Driving School or the Texas DMV for more information.
Is it necessary for me to complete a behind-the-wheel training course in order to get my first Texas driver's license?
Yes, it is.  All teen-aged drivers applying for their first driver's license in Texas must complete a state-approved driver training course.
Will Texas allow me to sign up to take a behind-the-wheel training course before I actually get my instruction permit?
You will need to contact your state's DMV office to find out.  However, most states require that you obtain your learner's permit before you sign up with a driver training course.
