Imperial Driving School FAQ’s
Is Imperial Driving School certified by the Illinois DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses?
Although we include Imperial Driving School in our directory of driving schools for Chicago Illinois, we cannot make any assurances about whether or not Imperial Driving School is certified by the Illinois DMV.  You should contact Imperial Driving School directly and ask them if you are thinking about signing up to take their Chicago Illinois driver training class.
Is it true that my mom or dad can be my driving instructor when I do my behind-the-wheel training instead of a professional driver training school instructor like the ones they have at Imperial Driving School?
It depends on what your state's laws are.  You should contact the Illinois DMV or a licensed driving school like Imperial Driving School to find out if Illinois allows behind-the-wheel training with a parent.
I don't know how to drive using a manual-shift. Will Imperial Driving School have an automatic-shift car available that I can use for my behind-the-wheel training?
Since you're enrolling in a Chicago Illinois driver training class, chances are good that you don't know how to drive either a stick-shift OR an automatic!  However, you should let Imperial Driving School know what your preference is before enrolling in their driver class.  That way you'll know for sure they will accommodate you.
I live out in the middle of nowhere. There are rural and mountain roads all around. Will Imperial Driving School teach me how to drive in BOTH rural AND city areas?
If you live in a rural or mountain town, chances are that a local driving school like Imperial Driving School will include driving lessons specifically tailored to that terrain.
Can 14-year-olds get instruction permits to drive in Illinois?
Most states have set the minimum age for applying for a learner's permit at 15 or 15 1/2.  However, some states do allow 14-year-olds to obtain a learner's permit.  You may want to contact the Illinois DMV or a Illinois-approved driver training school like Imperial Driving School to find out what the minimum age to drive is in Illinois.
Can I take Imperial Driving School's behind-the-wheel training course before taking a Chicago Illinois drivers education classroom course or online course?
It depends on what Illinois's laws prescribe.  However, you should know that most states will require teen-aged, first-time drivers to complete both a drivers education classroom course (which are approximately 30 hours in length, depending on Illinois's laws) or an approved online course, plus a state-approved driver training course.  We recommend that you contact Imperial Driving School directly to see if they offer either (or both) of these courses.
Illinois law says that I must sign up to take a hands-on driver training course in order to get licensed to drive in Chicago Illinois. Is this something that Imperial Driving School can help me with?
Yes, Imperial Driving School offers the Illinois-approved driver training course.  For more information about their classes and instruction schedule, please contact Imperial Driving School directly.
What are the prerequisites in Chicago Illinois for obtaining a drivers license?
It depends on your state's laws, however in many states, teen-agers must complete both a drivers education classroom course and a driver training course.  Imperial Driving School may offer an approved driver training course which you could take.  Please contact Imperial Driving School for information regarding their available classes and how to go about signing up for them.
Do I have to take a Chicago Illinois behind-the-wheel training course in order to get a driver's license?
Yes.  All drivers in Illinois must successfully complete an approved driver training course in order to receive a driver's license.  Please contact Imperial Driving School for information on the types of behind-the-wheel training courses they offer in Chicago Illinois.
Can I enroll in a Illinois driver training course prior to having my Illinois learners permit?
Most states require pre-licensed drivers to hold a learners permit before being permitted to sign up to take a behind-the-wheel training course.  You should contact a driving school like Imperial Driving School and ask for more information.
