Metro Driving School FAQ’s
Are all the driving schools listed on your website fully-certified by the Illinois DMV to offer driver training courses in Illinois?
The driving school directory on our website is for your convenience only, and we cannot absolutely guarantee that every driving school listed is currently accredited to offer driving training courses in Illinois.  We suggest you contact the Illinois DMV to make sure a particular driver training school is accredited before you sign up to take their driving course.
Is it true that my mom or dad can be my driving instructor when I do my driver training instead of a professional driving school instructor like the ones they have at Metro Driving School?
It depends on what your state's laws are.  You should contact the Illinois DMV or a licensed driver training school like Metro Driving School to find out if Illinois allows driver training with a parent.
What if I don't know how to drive a manual-shift automobile? Does Metro Driving School have automatic-shift vehicles that I can drive when I do my driver training?
If you're taking a Collinsville Illinois driver training class, chances are you don't know how to drive ANY vehicle yet-- stick or automatic.  However, if you prefer an automatic vehicle then you should tell Metro Driving School that prior to registering for the course in order to make sure they can accommodate you.
What happens to those of us who live in a remote area? Will Metro Driving School include instruction on how to drive on dirt roads, mountain roads, and other bumpy terrain?
If you live in a rural location, there is a high probability that a local driving school like Metro Driving School will either want--or even be required--to tailor their instruction towards driving safely in your particular area.
I just turned 14 years old. Am I eligible to apply for my learner's permit in Illinois?
Probably not.  The minimum age requirement for holding an instruction permit in most states is 15 1/2.  You should contact the Illinois Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driving school such as Metro Driving School to find out more information about the minimum age requirement in Illinois.
Do I have to take both a drivers education classroom course and a driver training course in Collinsville Illinois to get my Illinois driver's license?
The laws vary depending on which state you live in, but most states do require that pre-licensed drivers sign up to take a defensive driving classroom course and a behind-the-wheel training course.  You may want to call a driving instruction company like Metro Driving School and find out if they offer either (or both) of these programs.
Illinois's DMV has told me that I need to take a driver training course. Do you know if Metro Driving School offers this course or not?
Metro Driving School does offer the behind-the-wheel training course that Illinois requires all new teen-aged drivers to take.  For more information about the courses Metro Driving School offers, we recommend that you contact Metro Driving School directly.
Do I have to take drivers education to get a Illinois driver's license?
Drivers education requirements vary depending on which state you live in, but you should be aware that most states require new, teen-aged drivers to sign up to take both a behind-the-wheel training course in addition to a safe driving classroom or online course.  You may wish to contact the Illinois DMV to find out exactly what requirements you will need to fulfill in order to obtain your first driver's license.
Am I obligated to take a Collinsville Illinois behind-the-wheel training course?
All drivers in Illinois must take a behind-the-wheel training course.  You should contact Metro Driving School to learn more about the courses they offer.
Will Illinois allow me to sign up to take a behind-the-wheel training course before I actually receive my learner's permit?
You will need to contact your state's DMV office to find out.  However, most states require that you obtain your learner's permit before you register with a behind-the-wheel training course.
