Mr. D's Driving School FAQ’s
Can you tell me if Mr. D's Driving School is a licensed driver training school in Illinois?
Although Mr. D's Driving School is listed on our list of driving schools in your area, we are unable to say with certainty as to whether they are currently approved to teach behind-the-wheel training courses in Illinois.  We recommend either calling Mr. D's Driving School directly or the Illinois DMV to find out whether or not Mr. D's Driving School offers behind-the-wheel training courses that are state-approved.
Do you know if I can complete my driver training with my mother or father instead of attending a driving school like Mr. D's Driving School?
Some states allow teen-agers to complete their driver training with their parents instead of attending a professional driver training school.  We recommend that you contact the Illinois DMV or Mr. D's Driving School directly to find out if Illinois allows parent-taught driver training.
Do you know if Mr. D's Driving School will let me complete my behind-the-wheel training using an automatic-shift vehicle? I don't know anything about using a stick-shift.
Considering you're a brand new driver, you probably don't know a whole lot about driving ANY type of vehicle, be it a stick OR an automatic!  Nevertheless, if you have a preference, you probably should contact Mr. D's Driving School and see if they can accommodate you before registering for their behind-the-wheel training course.
I live in a small rural town, where there are a lot of small, unpaved roads. Will my driver training with Mr. D's Driving School include learning how to drive in rural areas? Or do they just offer training for urban driving?
Most local driving schools will likely want their students to know how to drive safely in the local area.  Therefore, chances are good that the driver training you receive from Mr. D's Driving School will include handling unpaved roads and mountain driving.
Can 14-year-olds obtain learner's permits to drive in Illinois?
Most states have set the minimum age for applying for a learner's permit at 15 or 15 1/2.  However, some states do allow 14-year-olds to get a learner's permit.  You may want to contact the Illinois DMV or a Illinois-approved driver training school like Mr. D's Driving School to find out what the minimum age to drive is in Illinois.
Is taking a drivers education course in a classroom or online sufficient in Belleville Illinois or do I also have to enroll in a driver training class with a professional driving instructor?
It depends on what the Illinois's laws require, but many states do mandate that new, young drivers to enroll in a behind-the-wheel training class with a professional driving instructor as well as a drivers education classroom or online course.
I have to register for a behind-the-wheel class in Belleville Illinois before Illinois will give me my driver's license. Does Mr. D's Driving School offer this type of course?
Mr. D's Driving School does offer the behind-the-wheel training course in Belleville Illinois that is required by the State of Illinois.  You will need to contact Mr. D's Driving School directly for more information about the driver courses they offer and their class schedules.
Do I have to take drivers education to get a Illinois driver's license?
Drivers education requirements vary depending on which state you live in, but you should be aware that most states require new, teen-aged drivers to register for both a driver training course in addition to a drivers education classroom or online course.  You may wish to contact the Illinois DMV to find out exactly what requirements you will need to satisfy in order to obtain your first driver's license.
Is it necessary for me to enroll in a driver training course in order to get my first Illinois driver's license?
Yes, it is.  All teen-aged drivers applying for their first driver's license in Illinois are required to take a state-approved behind-the-wheel training course.
Is it possible to register for a Illinois-certified behind-the-wheel training course before I obtain my Illinois instruction permit?
It depends on what the specific laws are in Illinois, however most states require first-time drivers to receive a learners permit before registering for a behind-the-wheel training course.  We recommend you contact a driving school such as Mr. D's Driving School to obtain more information.
