A-1 Driver Training School FAQ’s
Is A-1 Driver Training School licensed by the South Carolina DMV to offer driver training courses?
Although we include A-1 Driver Training School in our directory of driving schools for Columbia South Carolina, we cannot make any assurances about whether or not A-1 Driver Training School is certified by the South Carolina DMV.  You should contact A-1 Driver Training School directly and ask them if you are thinking about enrolling in their Columbia South Carolina behind-the-wheel training class.
I heard that parents can fill the role of driving instructor in South Carolina, so taking a Columbia driving school course like the one A-1 Driver Training School offers is not necessary. Is that true?
You should contact the South Carolina DMV or a licensed driving school like A-1 Driver Training School and ask them.  While parent-taught driving instruction is permitted in some states, many states do NOT allow it.
I can't drive a manual-shift. Will A-1 Driver Training School allow me to complete my behind-the-wheel training on an automatic-shift vehicle?
We recommend that you contact A-1 Driver Training School and ask them if you can do your behind-the-wheel training using a vehicle that has an automatic shift before signing up to take their driver training course.
The area in which I live is mostly undeveloped--very few paved roads and mountains are all around. Will A-1 Driver Training School be able to teach me how to drive safely on bumpy terrain as well as in a city or town?
Considering that you live in a rural area, chances are excellent that a local driving school like A-1 Driver Training School will want you to be able to drive safely on dirt roads and other types of rugged terrain.  You may wish to contact A-1 Driver Training School to find out exactly what their driver training course includes before enrolling in their training course.
Now that I'm 14, will South Carolina allow me to get an instruction permit to drive?
Not likely.  Most states require residents to be at least 15 or 15 1/2 years old before applying for an instruction permit.  We recommend that your contact the South Carolina DMV office or a South Carolina-approved driving school such as A-1 Driver Training School to learn more about the minimum driving age requirement in South Carolina.
Do I have to complete a Columbia South Carolina drivers education classroom course or online course before signing up to take one of A-1 Driver Training School's driver training courses?
Each state has its own rules, but most states will require first-time drivers to take both a driver training course plus either a drivers education classroom course (which are about 30 hours in length) or an approved online drivers education course.  You may want to ask A-1 Driver Training School if they offer one or both programs.
South Carolina's DMV has told me that I need to take a driver training course. Do you know if A-1 Driver Training School offers this course or not?
A-1 Driver Training School does offer the driver training course that South Carolina requires all new teen-aged drivers to take.  For more information about the courses A-1 Driver Training School offers, we recommend that you contact A-1 Driver Training School directly.
How do I obtain a drivers license in Columbia South Carolina?
In most states, pre-licensed teens are required to complete both a classroom safe driving course and a behind-the-wheel training course.  A-1 Driver Training School may be able to help you meet the driver training portion in South Carolina.
Is there a law in South Carolina that says I have to take behind-the-wheel training in order to get my driver's license?
Yes.  State law in South Carolina mandates that all teen-agers take an approved behind-the-wheel training course before receiving a South Carolina driver's license.
Is it all right if I register with a behind-the-wheel training school like A-1 Driver Training School prior to my receiving my instruction permit?
In most states, you are required to have already gotten your instruction permit before you sign up to take your driver training course like the one offered by A-1 Driver Training School.  We suggest you contact either A-1 Driver Training School to find out more information.
