Adaptive Driving Associates FAQ’s
Since Adaptive Driving Associates appears on your website, does this mean they are approved by the Vermont DMV to offer driver training courses?
The list of driving schools on our webpage is provided as a convenience to our customers only.  We CANNOT guarantee that every single school listed is fully-certified by the Vermont DMV.  You may want to call Adaptive Driving Associates directly to find out if they offer a state-certified behind-the-wheel training course.
I heard that parents can fill the role of driving instructor in Vermont, so taking a White River Junction driving school course like the one Adaptive Driving Associates offers is not necessary. Is that true?
You should contact the Vermont DMV or a licensed driver training school like Adaptive Driving Associates and ask them.  While parent-taught driving instruction is permitted in some states, many states do NOT allow it.
Do I need to tell Adaptive Driving Associates that I need to train with an automatic-shift vehicle? I don't know how to drive a manual-shift automobile.
Most new drivers don't know how to operate either a manual-shift OR and automatic-shift automobile!  We recommend that you ask Adaptive Driving Associates if you can complete your driver training using an automatic-shift car before you enroll in their driver training course.
The area in which I live is mostly undeveloped--very few paved roads and mountains are all around. Will Adaptive Driving Associates be able to teach me how to drive safely on bumpy terrain as well as in a city or town?
Considering that you live in a rural area, chances are excellent that a local driving school like Adaptive Driving Associates will want you to be able to drive safely on dirt roads and other types of bumpy terrain.  You may wish to contact Adaptive Driving Associates to find out exactly what their behind-the-wheel training course includes before signing up to take their training course.
After I turn 14, will I be eligible to obtain my instruction permit so I can begin to learn how to drive?
It depends on which state you live in, however most states unfortunately require you to be at least 15 (or sometimes 15 1/2) before you can be issued a learner's permit.  We suggest that you contact a local driver training school such as Adaptive Driving Associates or the Vermont DMV office to learn more about the minimum age requirement for driving in Vermont.
Will I be required to enroll in both a drivers education classroom or online course and a behind-the-wheel training course in White River Junction Vermont?
It depends on which state you live in, but many states now require new teen-aged drivers to sign up for both a drivers education course as well as a driver training course.
I have to take a behind-the-wheel training course in White River Junction Vermont. Can I meet this requirement by signing up with Adaptive Driving Associates?
Yes, Adaptive Driving Associates offers defensive driving courses in White River Junction Vermont.  You will need to contact Adaptive Driving Associates directly to get more information on the types of courses they offer and when to sign up for a class.
What type of driver ed do I need before Vermont will give me a driver's license?
Each state has its own requirements concerning drivers education, although you should know that most states now mandate all new, young drivers to enroll in a drivers education classroom or online course as well as a driver training course.  Adaptive Driving Associates may be able to help you fulfill the behind-the-wheel training requirement in Vermont.  Please contact either Adaptive Driving Associates or the Vermont DMV for more information.
Is hands-on driver training required in Vermont in order to be licensed to drive a car?
Absolutely.  All new drivers in Vermont must enroll in an approved hands-on driver training course before they can get a license to independently drive a motor vehicle.
Can I enroll in a Vermont-approved driver training course even if I don't have my Vermont instruction permit yet?
Most likely, no.  Most states have laws that mandate a pre-licensed driver to have obtained a Vermont instruction permit before registering in a Vermont behind-the-wheel training course.  It would be best for you to contact a driving school such as Adaptive Driving Associates and ask for more information.
