Adirondack Driving School FAQ’s
Is Adirondack Driving School certified by the New York DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses?
Although we include Adirondack Driving School in our directory of driving schools for Albany New York, we cannot make any assurances about whether or not Adirondack Driving School is licensed by the New York DMV.  You should contact Adirondack Driving School directly and ask them if you are thinking about registering for their Albany New York driver training class.
Do I have to take a driver training course? Can't my parents just give me my driver training?
There are some states that do allow parents or guardians to provide their teen-aged kids' required driver training in order to obtain a driver's license.  However many states do not allow any type of substitution for attending a professionally-taught driver training course.  We suggest you contact your state's DMV to find out what the laws are in your state regarding behind-the-wheel training.
I can't operate a stick-shift. Will Adirondack Driving School allow me to do my driver training on an automatic-shift vehicle?
We recommend that you contact Adirondack Driving School and ask them if you can do your driver training using a vehicle that has an automatic shift before registering for their behind-the-wheel training course.
What happens to those of us who live in a remote area? Will Adirondack Driving School include instruction on how to drive on dirt roads, mountain roads, and other rugged?
If you live in a remote location, there is a high probability that a local driver training school like Adirondack Driving School will either want--or even be required--to tailor their instruction towards driving safely in your particular area.
I just turned 14 years old. Can I receive my learner's permit in New York?
Probably not.  The minimum age requirement for holding a learners permit in most states is 15 1/2.  You should contact the New York Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driving school such as Adirondack Driving School to find out more information about the minimum age requirement in New York.
I live in Albany New York. Does the law say I have to take both a drivers education classroom or online course and a driver training course in order to be fully-licensed here?
Each state has its own laws in regards to licensing procedures.  However, most states do mandate that new, teen-aged drivers enroll in both a driver training course plus either a drivers education online course or drivers education classroom course .
I am looking to register for a Albany New York drivers education course. Can Adirondack Driving School assist me with this?
Yes.  behind-the-wheel training courses are available in Albany New York through Adirondack Driving School.  Please contact Adirondack Driving School directly with questions regarding their schedule of classes and registration information.
How do I get a drivers license in Albany New York?
In most states, pre-licensed teens are required to complete both a classroom safe driving course and a behind-the-wheel training course.  Adirondack Driving School may be able to help you fulfill the behind-the-wheel training portion in New York.
I live in Albany New York and would like to apply for my first driver's license. Do I need to take a behind-the-wheel training course before I can be licensed?

Is it possible to sign up to take a New York-approved behind-the-wheel training course before I obtain my New York instruction permit?
