All-Star Driving FAQ’s
Are all the driving schools listed on your website fully-certified by the New York DMV to offer driver training courses in New York?
The driving school directory on our website is for your convenience only, and we cannot absolutely guarantee that every driving school listed is currently accredited to offer behind-the-wheel training courses in New York.  We suggest you contact the New York DMV to make sure a particular driver training school is accredited before you register for their driving course.
Is it true that my mom or dad can be my driving instructor when I do my driver training instead of a professional driver training school instructor like the ones they have at All-Star Driving?
It depends on what your state's laws are.  You should contact the New York DMV or a licensed driving school like All-Star Driving to find out if New York allows driver training with a parent.
Do I need to tell All-Star Driving that I need to train with an automatic-shift vehicle? I don't know how to drive a manual-shift automobile.
Most new drivers don't know how to operate either a stick-shift OR and automatic-shift car!  We recommend that you ask All-Star Driving if you can complete your driver training using an automatic-shift vehicle before you sign up to take their driver training course.
What happens to those of us who live in a non-urban area? Will All-Star Driving include instruction on how to drive on dirt roads, mountain roads, and other bumpy terrain?
If you live in a remote location, there is a high probability that a local driver training school like All-Star Driving will either want--or even be required--to tailor their instruction towards driving safely in your particular area.
If I'm 14, can I get an instruction permit to drive in New York?
Possibly.  However, you should be aware that most states require you to be at least 15½ years old before you can get an instruction permit.  We recommend that you contact the New York Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driving school such as All-Star Driving to find out exactly what the minimum age requirement is in New York.
Do I have to take a Latham New York classroom or online drivers education course before I can enroll in a behind-the-wheel training course through All-Star Driving?
This requirement varies by state but most states do mandate new teen-aged drivers to take BOTH a classroom-based defensive driving course (generally 30 hours in length) AND a behind-the-wheel training course.  You should ask All-Star Driving if they offer one or both programs.
I'm required to take a behind-the-wheel training course in Latham New York. Do you know if All-Star Driving offers driver training classes in Latham New York?
Yes, All-Star Driving does offer behind-the-wheel training courses in Latham New York.  For more information about their class schedule and how/when to enroll in one of their defensive driving courses, please contact All-Star Driving directly.
What do I need to do to obtain a driver's license in Latham New York?
It depends on New York's laws, but most states require new, teen-aged drivers to complete a drivers education classroom course as well as a driver training course.  You may want to call All-Star Driving to see if they offer the behind-the-wheel training course that would satisfy the regulations set forth by the New York DMV.
Am I required to take a Latham New York driver training course?
All drivers in New York must take a behind-the-wheel training course.  You should contact All-Star Driving to learn more about the courses they offer.
Do I have to receive my learner's permit in New York before I am allowed to enroll in a behind-the-wheel training course like the one All-Star Driving gives its students?
Laws vary from state to state, however most states do require that you obtain an instruction permit before you can register for a behind-the-wheel training course like the one that All-Star Driving gives its students.
