MaryBeth's School Of Driving FAQ’s
Can you tell me if MaryBeth's School of Driving is a licensed driver training school in New York?
Although MaryBeth's School of Driving is listed on our list of driving schools in your area, we are unable to say with certainty as to whether they are currently approved to teach behind-the-wheel training courses in New York.  We recommend either calling MaryBeth's School of Driving directly or the New York DMV to find out whether or not MaryBeth's School of Driving offers driver training courses that are state-approved.
Do I have to take a driver training course? Can't my parents just give me my behind-the-wheel training?
There are some states that do allow parents or guardians to provide their teen-aged kids' required driver training in order to obtain a driver's license.  However many states do not allow any type of substitution for attending a professionally-taught driver training course.  We suggest you contact your state's DMV to find out what the laws are in your state regarding behind-the-wheel training.
Do you know if MaryBeth's School of Driving will let me complete my driver training using an automatic-shift vehicle? I don't know anything about using a manual-shift.
Considering you're a brand new driver, you probably don't know a whole lot about driving ANY type of vehicle, be it a stick OR an automatic!  Nevertheless, if you have a preference, you probably should contact MaryBeth's School of Driving and see if they can accommodate you before registering for their driver training course.
Since I live way out in a remote location where driving on unpaved roads and rugged terrain is the norm, will MaryBeth's School of Driving be able to teach me how to drive in a non-urban environment? Or do they only prepare you for city-driving?
Since you live in a rural area, odds are that any local driving school in your area such as MaryBeth's School of Driving will want you to be able to drive safely on dirt roads and rugged terrain.  We recommend that you contact MaryBeth's School of Driving directly to find out exactly what they offer.
After I turn 14, will I be eligible to obtain my learner's permit so I can begin to learn how to drive?
It depends on which state you live in, however most states unfortunately require you to be at least 15 (or sometimes 15 1/2) before you can be issued a learner's permit.  We suggest that you contact a local driver training school such as MaryBeth's School of Driving or the New York DMV office to learn more about the minimum age requirement for driving in New York.
Do I have to complete a Ballston Spa New York drivers education classroom course or online course before enrolling in one of MaryBeth's School of Driving's behind-the-wheel training courses?
Each state has its own rules, but most states will require first-time drivers to take both a behind-the-wheel training course plus either a defensive driving classroom course (which are about 30 hours in length) or an approved online drivers education course.  You may want to ask MaryBeth's School of Driving if they offer one or both programs.
I have to take a driver training class in Ballston Spa New York before New York will give me my driver's license. Does MaryBeth's School of Driving offer this type of course?
MaryBeth's School of Driving does offer the driver training course in Ballston Spa New York that is required by the State of New York.  You will need to contact MaryBeth's School of Driving directly for more information about the behind-the-wheel courses they offer and their class schedules.
Exactly what type of driver education do I need in Ballston Spa New York before I can get my New York driver's license?
The prerequisites for getting a driver's licenses vary from state to state, however most states now require teen-agers who are looking to get their first driver's license to enroll in a safe driving classroom course as well as a driver training course.  We suggest that you contact a local driver training company such as MaryBeth's School of Driving and ask if they offer a New York-approved  behind-the-wheel training course which would fulfill New York's driver's education requirements.
Is there a law in New York that requires me to take behind-the-wheel training in order to get my driver's license?
Yes.  State law in New York requires that all teen-agers enroll in an approved driver training course before receiving a New York driver's license.
Will New York allow me to enroll in a behind-the-wheel training course before I actually receive my learner's permit?
You will need to contact your state's DMV office to find out.  However, most states require that you receive your learner's permit before you sign up with a behind-the-wheel training course.
