Road Safety FAQ’s
Road Safety is listed on your website as a driving school which offers behind-the-wheel training courses. How do I know if Road Safety is a certified school in Illinois?
While we include a list of driving schools on our website for your convenience, we cannot guarantee that every single one of them is currently licensed by the Illinois DMV.  We suggest you contact Road Safety directly or the Illinois DMV to find out if Road Safety is a fully-accredited driving school.
Do I have to take a driver training course? Can't my parents just give me my driver training?
There are some states that do permit parents or guardians to provide their teen-aged kids' required driver training in order to obtain a driver's license.  However many states do not allow any type of substitution for attending a professionally-taught driver training course.  We suggest you contact your state's DMV to find out what the laws are in your state regarding hands-on driving instruction.
I don't know how to drive using a manual-shift. Will Road Safety have an automatic-shift car available that I can use for my behind-the-wheel training?
Since you're enrolling in a Elmhurst Illinois driver training class, chances are good that you don't know how to drive either a manual-shift OR an automatic!  However, you should let Road Safety know what your preference is before registering for their driver class.  That way you'll know for sure they will accommodate you.
The area in which I live is mostly undeveloped--very few paved roads and mountains are all around. Will Road Safety be able to teach me how to drive safely on bumpy terrain as well as in a city or town?
Considering that you live in a rural area, chances are excellent that a local driving school like Road Safety will want you to be able to drive safely on unpaved roads and other types of rugged terrain.  You may wish to contact Road Safety to find out exactly what their driver training course includes before signing up to take their training course.
After I turn 14, will I be eligible to obtain my learner's permit so I can begin to learn how to drive?
It depends on which state you live in, however most states unfortunately require you to be at least 15 (or sometimes 15 1/2) before you can be issued a learner's permit.  We suggest that you contact a local driver training school such as Road Safety or the Illinois DMV office to learn more about the minimum age requirement for driving in Illinois.
Will I be required to sign up for both a drivers education classroom or online course and a driver training course in Elmhurst Illinois?
It depends on which state you live in, but many states now require new teen-aged drivers to successfully complete both a drivers education course as well as a behind-the-wheel training course.
Does Road Safety provide a driver training course like the one that is required by the State of Illinois? I need to sign up for one in order to obtain my driver license.
Road Safety offers driver training courses which are approved by the Illinois DMV.  You may want to contact Road Safety directly for more information about their courses and how to go about signing up for one.
Exactly what type of driver training do I need in Elmhurst Illinois before I can get my Illinois driver's license?
The prerequisites for getting a driver's licenses vary from state to state, however most states now require teen-agers who are looking to get their first driver's license to register for a drivers education classroom course as well as a behind-the-wheel training course.  We suggest that you contact a local driver training company such as Road Safety and ask if they offer a Illinois-approved  driver training course which would fulfill Illinois's driver's education requirements.
Is there a law in Illinois that says I have to take behind-the-wheel training in order to get my driver's license?
Yes.  State law in Illinois requires that all teen-agers successfully complete an approved behind-the-wheel training course before receiving a Illinois driver's license.
Is it okay for me to register for a driver training class in Illinois before I receive my Illinois instruction permit to drive?
Probably not.  Most states require first-time drivers to have their learners permit before they are allowed to sign up to take a driver training program.  You should contact a driving school like Road Safety and request more information.
