Rae's Driving School FAQ’s
Rae's Driving School's address and phone number is listed on your webpage. How can I find out if it is an approved driver training school in Connecticut?
Even though we provide a list of driver training schools on our website, we have no way of knowing for sure as to whether or not a particular school is licensed by the Connecticut DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses.  We strongly suggest that you contact Rae's Driving School directly or check with the Connecticut DMV to find out for sure if Rae's Driving School is a licensed school.
I've been told that either of my parents can monitor my driver training, so I don't have to attend a Madison Connecticut driving school like Rae's Driving School to fulfill my driver training requirement. Do you know if that's true or not?
You will need to contact the Connecticut DMV or a state-approved driver training school like Rae's Driving School to find out.  Some states do allow parent-taught driving, but many states do not.
What happens if I don't know how to operate a stick-shift vehicle? Will Rae's Driving School allow me to do my driver training with an automatic-shift automobile?
Considering you're a brand new driver, you probably don't know much about operating any type of vehicle--stick-shift or automatic-shift!  However, if you prefer to complete your behind-the-wheel training using an automatic-shift vehicle, you should contact Rae's Driving School and let them know before you register for their behind-the-wheel training course.  That way you will know for certain if they will accommodate you.
I live in a small mountain town, where there are a lot of small, unpaved roads. Will my behind-the-wheel training with Rae's Driving School include learning how to drive in remote areas? Or do they just offer training for urban driving?
Most local driving schools will likely want their students to be taught how to drive safely in the local area.  Therefore, chances are good that the behind-the-wheel training you receive from Rae's Driving School will include handling dirt roads and mountain driving.
Are 14-year-olds permitted to apply for a learner's permit in Connecticut?
Although a few states allow teen-agers to begin practicing how to drive at 14, most states have set the minimum age for which to hold a learner's permit at either 15 or 15½.  You will need to contact the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a certified driving instruction company like Rae's Driving School to find out what the minimum age for driving is in Connecticut.
Do I have to complete a Madison Connecticut drivers education classroom course or online course before registering for one of Rae's Driving School's behind-the-wheel training courses?
Each state has its own rules, but most states will require first-time drivers to take both a behind-the-wheel training course plus either a defensive driving classroom course (which are about 30 hours in length) or an approved online drivers education course.  You may want to ask Rae's Driving School if they offer one or both programs.
I have to take a defensive driving course in Madison Connecticut. Can I meet this requirement by enrolling in Rae's Driving School?
Yes, Rae's Driving School offers defensive driving courses in Madison Connecticut.  You will need to contact Rae's Driving School directly to get more information on the types of courses they offer and when to sign up for a class.
What steps do I have to take in order to get a Connecticut drivers license in Madison Connecticut?
Most states require that teen-agers who are applying for their first driver's license complete both a drivers education classroom course and a behind-the-wheel training course.  Rae's Driving School may be able to help you meet the driver training portion in Connecticut.  Please contact Rae's Driving School for more information.

Am I obligated to take a Madison Connecticut driver training course?
All drivers in Connecticut are required to take a driver training course.  You should contact Rae's Driving School to learn more about the courses they offer.
Can I sign up to take a Connecticut behind-the-wheel training course prior to having my Connecticut learners permit?
Most states require pre-licensed drivers to hold a learners permit before being permitted to enroll in a behind-the-wheel training course.  You should contact a driving school like Rae's Driving School and ask for more information.
