Rae's Driving School FAQ’s
Is Rae's Driving School an approved driving school in Connecticut?
Just because a driving school appears on our directory of driver training institutions, we cannot guarantee that they are fully licensed to offer hands-on driving courses in Connecticut.  We highly recommend that you contact Rae's Driving School directly or the Connecticut DMV to find out for sure if Rae's Driving School offers behind-the-wheel training courses that have been approved by the State of Connecticut.
Do you know if I can complete my behind-the-wheel training with my mother or father instead of attending a driving school like Rae's Driving School?
Some states allow teen-agers to do their driver training with their parents instead of attending a professional driver training school.  We recommend that you contact the Connecticut DMV or Rae's Driving School directly to find out if Connecticut allows parent-taught behind-the-wheel training.
I don't know how to drive using a manual-shift. Will Rae's Driving School have an automatic-shift car available that I can use for my driver training?
Since you're enrolling in a New Loudon Connecticut driver training class, chances are good that you don't know how to drive either a manual-shift OR an automatic!  However, you should let Rae's Driving School know what your preference is before enrolling in their behind-the-wheel class.  That way you'll know for sure they will accommodate you.
What happens to those of us who live in a rural area? Will Rae's Driving School include instruction on how to drive on dirt roads, mountain roads, and other bumpy terrain?
If you live in a rural location, there is a high probability that a local driver training school like Rae's Driving School will either want--or even be required--to tailor their instruction towards driving safely in your particular locale.
Can 14-year-olds obtain instruction permits to drive in Connecticut?
Most states have set the minimum age for applying for an instruction permit at 15 or 15 1/2.  However, some states do allow 14-year-olds to obtain an instruction permit.  You may want to contact the Connecticut DMV or a Connecticut-approved driver training school like Rae's Driving School to find out what the minimum age to drive is in Connecticut.
Do I have to take a New Loudon Connecticut classroom or online drivers education course before I can enroll in a behind-the-wheel training course through Rae's Driving School?
This requirement varies from state to state but most states do mandate pre-licensed drivers to take BOTH a classroom-based driver education course (generally 30 hours in length) AND a driver training course.  You should ask Rae's Driving School if they offer one or both programs.
Connecticut's DMV has told me that I need to take a behind-the-wheel training course. Do you know if Rae's Driving School offers this course or not?
Rae's Driving School does offer the behind-the-wheel training course that Connecticut requires all new teen-aged drivers to take.  For more information about the courses Rae's Driving School offers, we recommend that you contact Rae's Driving School directly.
Exactly what type of driver education do I need in New Loudon Connecticut before I can get my Connecticut driver's license?
The prerequisites for getting a driver's licenses vary from state to state, however most states now require teen-agers who are looking to get their first driver's license to complete a drivers education classroom course as well as a driver training course.  We suggest that you contact a local driver training company such as Rae's Driving School and ask if they offer a Connecticut-approved  driver training course which would meet Connecticut's driver's education requirements.
Do I have to take a New Loudon Connecticut driver training course in order to get a driver's license?
Yes.  All drivers in Connecticut must successfully complete an approved driver training course in order to be licensed to operate a motor vehicle.  Please contact Rae's Driving School for information on the types of driver training courses they offer in New Loudon Connecticut.
Can I sign up to take a Connecticut-approved behind-the-wheel training course even if I don't have my Connecticut learners permit yet?
Most likely, no.  Most states have laws that require a pre-licensed driver to have obtained a Connecticut learners permit before registering in a Connecticut driver training course.  It would be best for you to contact a driving school such as Rae's Driving School and ask for more information.
