Rasa Defensive Driving FAQ’s
Can you tell me if Rasa Defensive Driving is a certified driving school in Texas?
Although Rasa Defensive Driving is listed on our list of driving schools in your area, we are unable to say with certainty as to whether they are currently certified to teach hands-on driving courses in Texas.  We recommend either calling Rasa Defensive Driving directly or the Texas DMV to find out whether or not Rasa Defensive Driving offers driver training courses that are state-approved.
I've been told that either of my parents can monitor my behind-the-wheel training, so I don't have to attend a Texas driving school like Rasa Defensive Driving to fulfill my behind-the-wheel training requirement. Do you know if that's true or not?
You will need to contact the Texas DMV or a state-approved driver training school like Rasa Defensive Driving to find out.  Some states do allow parent-taught driving, but many states do not.
I can't drive a manual-shift. Will Rasa Defensive Driving allow me to do my behind-the-wheel training on an automatic-shift vehicle?
We recommend that you contact Rasa Defensive Driving and ask them if you can do your behind-the-wheel training using a vehicle that has an automatic shift before enrolling in their behind-the-wheel training course.
I live in a remote area, that has a lot of dirt roads and rugged terrain. Will Rasa Defensive Driving teach me how to drive in BOTH city AND rural environments?
If you live in a remote area, chances are very good that a local driver training school like Rasa Defensive Driving will want you to be taught how to drive safely on the local area's terrain.
Are 14-year-olds permitted to apply for a learner's permit in Texas?
Although a few states allow teen-agers to begin practicing how to drive at 14, most states have set the youngest age for which to hold an instruction permit at either 15 or 15½.  You will need to contact the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driving school like Rasa Defensive Driving to find out what the minimum age for driving is in Texas.
Do I have to complete a Texas drivers education classroom course or online course before enrolling in one of Rasa Defensive Driving's driver training courses?
Each state has its own rules, but most states will require first-time drivers to take both a driver training course plus either a drivers education classroom course (which are about 30 hours in length) or an approved online drivers education course.  You may want to ask Rasa Defensive Driving if they offer one or both programs.
Texas law says that I must sign up to take a behind-the-wheel training course in order to get licensed to drive in Texas. Is this something that Rasa Defensive Driving can help me with?
Yes, Rasa Defensive Driving offers the Texas-approved driver training course.  For more information about their classes and instruction schedule, please contact Rasa Defensive Driving directly.
How do I get a drivers license in Texas?
In most states, pre-licensed teens are required to complete both a classroom safe driving course and a behind-the-wheel training course.  Rasa Defensive Driving may be able to help you fulfill the behind-the-wheel training portion in Texas.
Do I have to take a Texas behind-the-wheel training course in order to get a driver's license?
Yes.  All drivers in Texas must successfully complete an approved behind-the-wheel training course in order to receive a driver's license.  Please contact Rasa Defensive Driving for information on the types of driver training courses they offer in Texas.
Will Texas allow me to enroll in a behind-the-wheel training course before I actually receive my learner's permit?
You will need to contact your state's DMV office to find out.  However, most states require that you obtain your learner's permit before you enroll in a driver training course.
