Lone Star Driving Academy FAQ’s
Since Lone Star Driving Academy appears on your website, does this mean they've been approved by the Texas DMV to offer driver training courses?
The list of driving schools on our webpage is provided as a convenience to our customers only.  We CANNOT guarantee that every single school listed is fully-approved by the Texas DMV.  You may want to call Lone Star Driving Academy directly to find out if they offer a state-certified behind-the-wheel training course.
Do I have to take a behind-the-wheel training course? Can't my parents just give me my driver training?
There are some states that do allow parents or guardians to provide their teen-aged kids' required driver training in order to obtain a driver's license.  However many states do not allow any type of substitution for attending a professionally-taught behind-the-wheel training course.  We suggest you contact your state's DMV to find out what the laws are in your state regarding hands-on driving instruction.
What if I don't know how to drive a vehicle with a manual-shift? Does Lone Star Driving Academy have an automatic-shift vehicle they'll let me train with?
Since you're just learning how to drive, you probably don't know how to operate either a stick-shift or an automatic-shift vehicle!  However, if you have a preference as to a stick or an automatic, you probably should call Lone Star Driving Academy to see if they can accommodate your request prior to your enrolling in their behind-the-wheel training course.
I live in a remote area, that has a lot of dirt roads and rugged terrain. Will Lone Star Driving Academy teach me how to drive in BOTH city AND rural environments?
If you live in a rural area, chances are very good that a local driver training school like Lone Star Driving Academy will want you to be trained in driving specific to the local area's terrain.
I'm turning 14 in a few days. Can I get a instruction permit to drive in Texas after my 14th birthday?
Most likely, no.  Most states (though not all) have laws which require that you be at least 15 or 15 1/2 before to be eligible to apply for a learner's permit.  Nevertheless, you may wish to contact the Texas DMV office or a Texas-certified driving school such as Lone Star Driving Academy to find out for certain what the minimum driving age is in your local area.
Can I take Lone Star Driving Academy's behind-the-wheel training course before taking a Devine Texas drivers education classroom course or online course?
It depends on what Texas's laws say.  However, you should know that most states will require teen-aged, first-time drivers to complete both a drivers education classroom course (which are approximately 30 hours in length, depending on Texas's laws) or an approved online course, plus a state-approved driver training course.  We recommend that you contact Lone Star Driving Academy directly to see if they offer either (or both) of these courses.
Texas's DMV has told me that I need to take a driver training course. Do you know if Lone Star Driving Academy offers this course or not?
Lone Star Driving Academy does offer the behind-the-wheel training course that Texas requires all new teen-aged drivers to take.  For more information about the courses Lone Star Driving Academy offers, we recommend that you contact Lone Star Driving Academy directly.
What do I need to do to obtain a driver's license in Devine Texas?
It depends on Texas's laws, but most states require new, teen-aged drivers to complete a drivers education classroom course as well as a driver training course.  You may want to call Lone Star Driving Academy to see if they offer the behind-the-wheel training course that would satisfy the regulations set forth by the Texas DMV.
Am I obligated to take a Devine Texas driver training course?
All drivers in Texas must take a behind-the-wheel training course.  You should contact Lone Star Driving Academy to learn more about the courses they offer.
Can I sign up to take a Texas behind-the-wheel training course prior to having my Texas learners permit?
Most states require pre-licensed drivers to hold a learners permit before being permitted to sign up to take a behind-the-wheel training course.  You should contact a driving school like Lone Star Driving Academy and ask for more information.
