D. B. Driving Academy FAQ’s
D. B. Driving Academy's contact information is listed on your webpage. How can I know for sure if it is a licensed driver training school in Texas?
Even though we provide a list of behind-the-wheel training schools on our website, we have no way of knowing for sure as to whether or not a particular school is certified by the Texas DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses.  We strongly suggest that you contact D. B. Driving Academy directly or check with the Texas DMV to find out for sure if D. B. Driving Academy is a licensed school.
I heard that parents can fill the role of driving instructor in Texas, so taking a Kermit driver training course like the one D. B. Driving Academy offers is not necessary. Is that true?
You should contact the Texas DMV or a licensed driving school like D. B. Driving Academy and ask them.  While parent-taught driving instruction is permitted in some states, many states do NOT allow it.
I don't know how to drive using a stick-shift. Will D. B. Driving Academy have an automatic-shift car available that I can use for my behind-the-wheel training?
Since you're enrolling in a Kermit Texas behind-the-wheel training class, chances are good that you don't know how to drive either a manual-shift OR an automatic!  However, you should let D. B. Driving Academy know what your preference is before registering for their behind-the-wheel class.  That way you'll know for sure they will accommodate you.
I live in a small rural town, where there are a lot of small, unpaved roads. Will my behind-the-wheel training with D. B. Driving Academy include learning how to drive in remote areas? Or do they just offer training for urban driving?
Most local driving schools will likely want their students to be taught how to drive safely in the local area.  Therefore, chances are good that the driver training you receive from D. B. Driving Academy will include handling unpaved roads and mountain driving.
If I'm 14, can I get an instruction permit to drive in Texas?
Possibly.  However, you should be aware that most states require you to be at least 15½ years old before you can get an instruction permit.  We recommend that you contact the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a certified driving school such as D. B. Driving Academy to find out exactly what the minimum age requirement is in Texas.
Do I have to complete a Kermit Texas drivers education classroom course or online course before signing up to take one of D. B. Driving Academy's driver training courses?
Each state has its own rules, but most states will require first-time drivers to take both a behind-the-wheel training course plus either a defensive driving classroom course (which are about 30 hours in length) or an approved online drivers education course.  You may want to ask D. B. Driving Academy if they offer one or both programs.
I have to take a behind-the-wheel training course in Kermit Texas. Can I meet this requirement by registering with D. B. Driving Academy?
Yes, D. B. Driving Academy offers defensive driving courses in Kermit Texas.  You will need to contact D. B. Driving Academy directly to get more information on the types of courses they offer and when to register for a class.
Exactly what type of driver education do I need in Kermit Texas before I can get my Texas driver's license?
The prerequisites for getting a driver's licenses vary from state to state, however most states now require teen-agers who are looking to get their first driver's license to sign up to take a drivers education classroom course as well as a behind-the-wheel training course.  We suggest that you contact a local driver training company such as D. B. Driving Academy and ask if they offer a Texas-approved  behind-the-wheel training course which would satisfy Texas's driver's education requirements.
What does the law in Texas say about driver training courses? Do I have to take one to get my driver's license?
Yes, you do.  Texas law states that new drivers successfully complete an approved behind-the-wheel training course as a prerequisite to getting their first driver's license.
Do I need to have my instruction permit before I sign up to take a behind-the-wheel training course like the one that D. B. Driving Academy offers?
You will need to contact D. B. Driving Academy or the Texas DMV to find out if you are allowed to sign up with a driving school like D. B. Driving Academy before obtaining your Texas learner's permit.
