How do I know if Mr. D's Driving Center is licensed by Texas's DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses?
While we do include Mr. D's Driving Center's contact information in our driving school directory, we cannot say with certainty as to whether Mr. D's Driving Center is certified by the State of Texas. We recommend that you either contact Mr. D's Driving Center directly or possibly the Texas DMV to find out if Mr. D's Driving Center is a certified driver training school.
Do I have to take a behind-the-wheel training course? Can't my parents just give me my driver training?
There are some states that do permit parents or guardians to provide their teen-aged kids' required behind-the-wheel training in order to obtain a driver's license.  However many states do not allow any type of substitution for enrolling in a professionally-taught behind-the-wheel training course. We suggest you contact your state's DMV to find out what the laws are in your state regarding hands-on driving instruction.
Do you know if Mr. D's Driving Center will let me take my driver training using an automatic-shift vehicle? I don't know anything about using a stick-shift.
Considering you're a brand new driver, you probably don't know a whole lot about driving ANY type of vehicle, be it a manual OR an automatic! Nevertheless, if you have a preference, you probably should contact Mr. D's Driving Center and see if they can accommodate you before signing up to take their behind-the-wheel training course.
Since I live way out in the country where driving on dirt roads and rugged terrain is the norm, will Mr. D's Driving Center be able to teach me how to drive in a non-urban environment? Or do they only prepare you for city-driving?
Since you live in a rural area, odds are that any local driving school in your area such as Mr. D's Driving Center will want you to be able to drive safely on dirt roads and rugged terrain.  We recommend that you contact Mr. D's Driving Center directly to find out exactly what they offer.
I'm turning 14 in a few months. Can I get a learner's permit to drive in Texas after my 14th birthday?
Most likely, no. Most states (though not all) have laws which require that you be at least 15 or 15 1/2 before to be eligible to apply for an instruction permit. Nevertheless, you may wish to contact the Texas DMV office or a Texas-certified driving school such as Mr. D's Driving Center to find out for certain what the minimum driving age is in your local area.
